If you are believer in your Lippsman split theory for the finals then why not wait for a split in the first two then bet Tampa at what will be a really juicy price as they head to Chicago tied 1-1 and Chicago then having home ice. Unless you feel confident the Lightning and Bishop smack the Hawks around twice in in Tampa.
Personally to me this Hawks team looks like they are on a mission and you can see they fully realize this is the last ride for this group together as due to finances they will be torn apart at the end of this season. Very close knit group that has been through a lot together, playing together for the last time. They have more skill and are fully motivated and galvanized as a unit. Plus Bishop scares the crap out of me playing against a team that can actually score for the first time in these playoffs. This will be the first team that will have the big tender moving from side to side quickly in his crease and the shots will be pinpoint lazers unlike with the other offensively inept teams he has faced thus far. Ofcourse we know where all the experience lies as well. That's a lot to go against. Will be looking at this game by game myself to see how the teams look and to see how the refs will be calling it.
Good Luck Chuck
Good analysis. Spot-on.

Chicago have knocked out Nashville and Anaheim (without having home ice advantage at the start) while Tampa had Old Men Detroit, the Montreal Subbans and the New York Lundquists.
With that price, I'll take the Hawks over Tampa any day.

That remains to be seen. Can't compare at this point. Bishop has been playing against teams that can't score while Andersen just lost a 7 game series to the most offensively gifted team in the NHL. We'll see how Bishop makes out these next couple of weeks. I also think Tampa is better defensively than Anaheim which gives Bishop more help than Andersen got. A prime of example of that was the Ducks leaving the best player in the world all alone in front of their net, completely untouched and unbothered so that he could easily rebound in the first goal of the game against a helpless Andersen last night. He was left out to dry many times in that series while Bishop very rarely had second and third chances to deal with.
I agree that Ducks had some defensive holes, they gave away too many odd men rush or leave Hawks wide open shot. But anyone who watched this series knows Andersen busted himself after late 3rd period of Game 5. He gave up two quick goals in the span of two or so minutes in that period, and whopping 13 goals in his last three games. Geez, that's was heck of embarrassing, he surrendered 4 goals to the Hawks' 14 shots on goal. No, i don't think Ducks will go far with him. There is a uprising talk for John Gibson to take the goalie spot.
Again, this is my own opinion. Andersen is not the only reason that Ducks lose the series against Blackhawks but he is the main reason.

I had a feeling about Chicago before the playoffs even began In this series I think we'll see at least a couple of high scoring games so might take a few over 6.5 or 7 's on the alternate total line offered by William Hills ( or indeed alternate team total overs ) Bishop is bound to give up at least 1 or two 4/5 GA games , Crawford too

Not disagreeing on your thoughts on Andersen at all, just saying we will have to wait and see if Bishop fares any better against the same opponent. I don't know if he will or not, just saying the comparison can only be made after this series, if Bishop plays great right through it then hats off to him. And I agree on your assessment of the game 5 meltdown tearing down the psyche of Andersen, you could visibly see it in his face after that typing goal went in, all his confidence disappeared

It really did happen after that game. It also happened during the regular season also. He got lit up for 3 goals in 30 minutes in the LA game on 11-12-14 and then the games after.
11-15-14 LA .919 GA
11-16-14 FLA .733
11-18-14 Cal .842
11-20-14 Van .893
Throughout the season usually he would have a clunker then out out of the next 3 or 4 games it would just continue. He didn't have many, but he picked one hell of a time to have his last one.

Do you know a goalie that has shut this Hawks offense down for a series in the last 3 years? I dont.
Dubnyk & Rinne are Vezina candidates this year, both got lit up.
Jonathan Quick is the best in the league and even with that masterful Kings defense, he got lit up in both those series. Even the one they won, he gave up 23 goals in 7 games, Kings just managed to put more past Crawford.
You would have to go back as far 2012, Mike Smith kept them quite for the most part but that was a different Hawks team, one that struggled in the regular season as well.
All these goalies dont just happen to suck vs the Hawks....team has a lot of firewpower and finds ways to break goalies down (screening, deflections, 2nd chance opportunities)...and they are able to do this better than other teams because they have more skilled players that are able to carry the puck in the opposing teams zone for long stretches.
Andersen was just fine through the first 2 rounds...he didnt pick a time have a clunker, Hawks picked it for him.
