Vegas at -170 for the ML
Good luck everyone
I dunno. On one hand, the Sharks are the definition of "lowly." They just upset the Jets 3-0 as +180 home dogs, but these guys haven't won two straight games since they defeated the Penguins in their last game before the break and then beat the Lightning in their first game after the break. I'm not sure those should be counted as back-to-back wins because they occurred 10 days apart. Prior to that, we have to go back to December 9th and 13th to find the last time the Sharks won two straight, but I'm not sure those should count because they came against the dreadful Ducks and the crummy Coyotes.
But on the other hand, the Golden Knights can't be in a good frame of mind today. The team with the third best road record in the NHL just suffered another embarrassing home loss that followed a highly successful road trip. Their 7-4 blowout loss on Tuesday night against the Oilers was the FIFTH time this season the proud Golden Knights faceplanted on Fortress ice after kicking butt in enemy arenas. That's bad enough, but this time.....the schedule maker sent them right back out on the road up to San Jose before playing their next home game on Saturday against the Wild. I can almost promise you that the VGK players are not liking this at all, and no team would. Returning home from a road trip of 3 games or more, playing a single home game and then having to go back on the road to play one stupid game? Not cool, and even less so in light of Vegas' repeated inability to play well at home after playing so well away from home. I don't expect the Golden Knights' hearts and minds will be richly invested in this game. Maybe that won't be necessary to bump off the abysmal Sharks, but why take that chance at -175 or -180?
At the right price, I'll be on the Sharks, but keep in mind that I've tried beating the Golden Knights numerous times this season with various home dogs and I don't recall winning once. Last week I went with the Flames -125 and lost 3-2.

I’m on the Sharks +170. It’s a good sign for the OP. I’m also on the under in the 1st period at under 1.5 +140. I usually lose these (and quickly).

The Sharks are twenty minutes away from winning consecutive home games for the first time this season. Or they’re twenty minutes away from giving up this golden opportunity to the Golden Knights.

Logan Couture intercepted a pass and raced up ice to fire home the winner for the Sharks just 50 seconds into overtime. The Sharks will avoid setting a dubious new franchise record with the fewest home wins in a season.

@MrBator
I rarely play first period totals. However a friend of mine has been making money in the new year playing all first period overs. I have to find out the percentage. Great breakdown and call on the SJ Sharky!
