Holmgren knows that he can't go into this season without a real goalie, so it's a tough spot. I think Philly did alright here, Voracek's only 21, has a lot of talent, and could blossom on a good team.

I was thinking the same thing but the Leafs don't have many young players they were willing to give up and that the flyers would have wanted.
It still hurts to think that we could have had Carter a few years ago for Kaberle but the Leaf brass turned the trade down.
Giving up young players in these circumstances wouldn't have hurt nearly as much though, as Richards and Carter are both young and still have many great years ahead of them.
Don't get me started on the potential Carter deal a few years back...

They would have wanted guys like Luke Schenn and Kadri to name a couple. I have a feeling that the Flyers management wanted both players out of the conference.
You learn more from losing than winning. You learn how to keep going.

Carter doesn't show in the postseason period. Richards had fallen out of favor with management, coaching, and the media. Third line captain who was never really meant to be a captain.
Young talent galore on this team and more coming in. Finally a top notch goalie. I would like to see some defensive depth get added personally. I'm sure they're not done yet.

Hmm, this is a good move in my eyes, both moves.

Aparantley Schenn can be your 2nd line center. JVR has turned into a beast. You get to sign Ville Leino now who when on Briere's line has been nothing short of spectacular.
These are good moves. And this is coming from a fan of both Carter and Richards. But moves needed to be made.

Damn that's alot to give up and also throw in a 9 year deal. I understand Philly is desperate for a goalie but is Bryzgalov that guy? And for the next 9 years?
Detroit was a far better team than Phoenix but it would of been nice to see Bryzgalov steal a game or two this past playoffs instead of getting swept. Oh well only time will tell though.
