the last 2 years of the deal are for like just over 1 mil, it's just a cap move to give him the money he wanted
That's not a great comparison IMO......Toews and Kane just a little bit better than Carter/Richards..........

WOW!!! I didn't expect ANY of this stuff. originally started the thread because I couldn't BELIEVE they would trade Carter but to trade Richards too, who many in Philly considered the modern day Bobby Clarke, is a REAL shock.
I personally think that the Flyers would have been better off to "stand pat" and continue to develope Bobrovsky. yes getting swept by the Bruins in the 2nd round was embarrassing BUT "goalie by committee" got them within two games of winning the Stanley Cup in 2010. Paul Holmgren better hope Bryzgalov is the second coming of Bernie Parent or he will get run out of Philadelphia on a rail!!!
good deal for both the BJ's and Kings although getting Wayne Simmonds from the Kings is a plus. he's a "banger with skills" and should become a fav with Flyer fans.
and like a poster on the TSN article about the trade said, "Ovie, Crosby, Stamkos, etc all love the Richards trade!!!" https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=369796. as a Penguins fan, I agree.

That tsn poster has no clue but either way none of those players will be happy when Claude Giroux is on them I can tell you that. He is faster, scrappier, more dedicated and much more offensively skilled than Richards. I will give Richards the nod in being more defensively skilled than Claude but that is Richards best feature by far so that's a given. Whenh did Richards ever shutdown Crosby?? Crosby had a bloody field day every time he played the Flyers so Richards never slowed him down and the other two could score as well against them so not sure why they would be anymore excited. The media is laughable with this shit.

I was thinking the same thing but the Leafs don't have many young players they were willing to give up and that the flyers would have wanted.
It still hurts to think that we could have had Carter a few years ago for Kaberle but the Leaf brass turned the trade down.

Just because I call you a Leaf hater doesn't mean I don't like ya....

Toews and Kane just a little bit better than Carter/Richards..........
Toews YES. Kane NO. Kane is skilled BUT he's soft. Ghawks would have been better getting rid of him in last years post Cup "salary dump" than the players they sent to Atlanta esp Dustin Byfuglien
