MON -140 Montreal saved their season, stopping a potential catastrophic 8-game losing streak by turning things around to win 7 of 9 and 9 of 12 overall. Arizona made a huge impact trade to acquire Taylor Hall and then watched things implode. They have now lost 10 of 12 overall, 6-straight road games and only have one road win in their last 10 traveling contests. The offense has stagnated, scoring 27 GF over this 12-game swoon (2.25). These teams are different ends of the possession spectrum with Montreal being a high-end possession team whereas Arizona is near the bottom of the league. Detroit beat Boston yesterday, showing, as we already knew, any team can beat any team on any given day, but this is a tale of two teams headed in opposite directions and the bet should be on the home side here.

FLA +115 I like Florida this year. I liked them last year. If their goaltending can improve, they are a big-time dark horse, imo. That said, they’ve lost 3 of 4. The things I’m looking at here which has me on the road dog. 1. Philly is coming off a monster road win over divisional rival Washington. Huge win equals potential let down situation. 2. Carter Hart is back. I was pounding the drum to blindly bet him every home start because the splits on his results playing at Wells Fargo Center are insane, BUT this is his first start in a month after being out with a core injury. There has to be some rust, I’d imagine. 3. The Panthers are very good offensively and they’ve only scored 4 goals on their last 92 SOG over the last 3 games. This is an offense that won’t be held in check for long. They’re #4 in shooting % and #5 in overall goals scored. 5.Bobrovsky’s history against the Flyers—not something I generally like to look at but since he played very well against them earlier this year, it’s worth noting—in his career against Philly he is 15-3-1 with a .928 Save% and 2.13 GAA. The road dog here is worth a look.
CLB +135 Tortarella should be coach of the year, imo. With the mass exodus of talent in the off-season this team was supposed to be a door mat and here he is, navigating them towards a potential playoff spot. These Jackets are now 18-3-3 in their last 24 games. That’s THREE regulation losses in 24 games! Korpisalo was on a great run himself before getting injured and in stepped Elvis Merzlikins who now owns a .930 Save% and 2.19 GAA through 25 games played! In 11 home appearances he owns an even more impressive .962 Save% and 1.16 GAA and has only allowed 2 goals total in his last 3+ home games combined (0.67). The Lightening are certainly no pushovers but McElhinney is only 4-4-1 on the road with a pedestrian .913 Save% and 2.81 GAA. This is a very hot young team playing on home ice and they should be up for a big challenge here. Worth the home dog money, in my estimation.
WASH -1/2 -130 Washington is my choice here for the opposite reasoning of the result of their last game out against Philly (where I’m opposite of Philly today). Philly mauled them so a serious bounce-back effort should be in place for tonight on their home rink against a strong opponent. Samsonov is getting the call here for the Caps and rightfully so. He’s beaten the Isles twice this season while compiling a .970 Save% and 0.75 GAA against them. Islanders are on a long middling stretch of hockey since their long 15-game unbeaten streak. Since that run ended, they’ve sputtered along to a 15-13-5 record
Good luck, everyone.
Leaning toward Flames and the under of that game as well. Not sure yet.

Done for the year. Good luck rest of the way, everyone. Too much nonsense for me and at this point its obviously never going to turn itself around. Worst NHL betting season in 11+ years. Should have tapped out months ago. Not one singular hot stretch all season.

NYB...tough run. At least you have the discipline to take a break.
Discipline would have been calling it quits for New Years like I intended. Didn't doubt that I could turn it around and make a run to at least get even for the season. But this season its not meant to be.
Good luck to you!

NYB...that's the curse with these "if I was still gambling" posts, as this will suck you back in the game , since now you will check scores. FWIW, the only one I like is STL -150. Hey, no one said stopping was easy, eh.

If I do well, I'll be annoyed but is what it is. I've been annoyed for 3 months anyways, lol.

Outside of the ARZ/OTT line, the rest of the lines are strangely lower than I would have thought. Also considered WASH and the over in that game as well so consider those the leans to the bets I'm also not betting lol. Good luck to those of you actually betting!

The following is what I would be betting today:
DAL +130
CLB -110
EDM/TB over 6 -105
FLA -125
ARZ/OTT under 6 -125
CGY -115
