The west is real tough and it took 97 points 2 get ya in the playoffs??? That is just crazyIn the west it anyones for the taking because it is so close this year.

i dont know about this... i think the hawks need 1 more point or a dallas lost.... cause im looking on tsn standings and the hawks are 2 points a head of dallas each having 1 game left... and it doesnt say the blackhawks have clinched a playoffs spot? hmm??? anyone??? so if hawks lost in regular and dallas wins, does this mean dallas makes the playoffs?? interesting

I just found out the hawks have not clinched yet. If the hawks lose there last game and stars win then the stars in the playoffs.

If Dallas wins in a shootout, Chi would still be in for they have one more win in reg/overtime than Dallas. Dallas must win in at least ot not in shootout, and Chi must loose for Dallas to remain in.

Shootout win for Dallas will do nothing for them, at the least they need chi loss and they must win in at least ot.

i got a bad feeling about chicago i really do, especially if san jose doesn't get 2 points tonight, if the sharks don't clinch the number 2 seed, i think det comes out tom and gives chicago all they can handle, also they will probably be motivated after the last game they played so bad, and dallas shouldn't have a problem with minnesota so i'm not feeling so great about the hawks making the playoffs

1st tiebreaker isn't season series.

It's the team with the greater number of games won BUT not including games won in a shootout.

Dallas has 5 shootout wins, giving them 37 non-shootout wins.
Chicago has 6 shootout wins, giving them 38 non-shooutout wins.

For Dallas to advance, they would have to win today in regulation OR overtime (with, of course, Chicago losing in regulation). THEN...they would both have 38 non-shootout wins and it would go to the 2nd tiebreaker which is the team that earned the most points in the season series. Dallas won the season series 3-1.

Bottom line...the only way for Dallas to advance is a win in the first 65 minutes AND a Chicago regulation loss.
