Leafs in a tough spot. These kids all git their money without ever winning anything. Crosby makes 8.7,Ovechkin 9.5why did these kids have to get 11-12 m .They sulk if a coach chews them out,l would love Tortorella lol...He doesn't care who you are, you don't perform you sit on the bench. Marner next year will play hardball asking for 12 m plus...Trade him,it tells you where his head is at..these kids got spoiled early.Marner if he wants to stay a Leaf better say l will take less because I want to win, BUT he won't

I remember Bergeron was playing with a punctured lung...cracked rips and a seperated shoulder and was hospitalized after the Bruins were eliminated from the playoffs.

No matter what happens in this series the Leafs need a new coach a new voice. Buy Tavares out of the last year of his contract he is done. Pay Marner but just sit him in the stands if he wants to play hockey wait till he is willing to remove the NMC in his contract so some other team can pay the regular season star. So Tavares and Marner are gone new coach start rebuilding this team with more grit like all the championship teams do. That all being said they can still make a series out of this load up the front two lines with any mixture of Matthews Bertuzzi Nylander Domi Knies (at least his has some heart) ok throw the turtle Tavares on there. Now make up one checking line of the remainder keep Reaves on the bench in case things get out of hand and one other body. Not sure what to do with the defence but I would throw Gio back there at least he has some experience. After what I just said forget it there is always next year lol.

Paying these players $11-12 million dollars when they haven't won anything is the major problem here. Why would Nylander want to block a shot that could ruin his summer fun? He is a 90 million dollar man guaranteed starting next year with a no trade clause. Marner will make $10.9 next year and will be looking for a raise on a contract year, how can a raise be justified? The Tavares contract has one more year at 11 million, really??? These guys mentioned are good players but have done nothing so far in the playoffs, will a new coach even make a difference? I am positive we are going to find out.
You learn more from losing than winning. You learn how to keep going.

I agree coaching is not the problem. The organization is the problem. Year after year after year after year after year after year loading up big money contracts up front while letting the D and goaltending languish. That stat that GA had on the blocked shots says it all. One team is willing to do what it takes to win and one isn't. I guess you can say that coaching is part of the problem and yes...Tortz or someone like him would publicly embarass the star players for playing soft but I think its so ingrained in the culture of this organization it wouldn't help.
And the problem is that the contracts are so ridiculous...no one in their right mind would trade or sign these guys so they are stuck holding the bag.
Blow up the management operation...put the kids in the closet and take on a new mindset like a Carolina or Dallas where you start with defense and goaltending first and build from there.
