Not much on the card for Wednesday, but i found the Flames line pretty interesting at Even. They are coming off a 1-0 loss to the rangers the night before, and NJ has won 4 straight and are doing pretty well... I was thinking the Flames are pretty much in a must win situation on Wednesday considering they are now out of a playoff spot and are in desperate need for some points. I would think there could be some line movement leading up to game time. Thoughts?

Devils playing GREAT D&G their last 4 BUT STILL can't score for beans. Flames usually CAN score and DID beat the Devils @ Calgary back in November 5-4 (so). I will chance the "Calgary Cockroach" +115 AND the OVER 5 +110 depending on WHO is in goal

hahaha devils playing great? im guessing you haven't been watching their recent games that was against low tier opponents because they have been getting outplayed.. it's their goalie who is saving them at the moment

I agree, I think Calgary is the better team plus they get Hiller back in net tonight. Line is low because NJ has been sitting at home off one days rest on a 4 game win streak meanwhile Calgary just played last night against NYR (not much travelling at all). Schnieder as stated above has been playing lights out as of late allowing 3 goals ONCE in his last 10 games. If he can make some key saves it COULD be a tough game for the Flames offense Who are coming off a shutout. That being said the rest of this NJ team are playing above their heads and Calgary is an overall the better team and if you can get them without juice that seems solid to me with their playoff hopes still alive. Only thing that concerns me is tired legs for the Fla es and Schnieder!

Everything is pointing in the direction of the Flames tonight. After studying a bit more, feel confident in taking the Flames at Even or anything better than that. Not laying juice for a team that is in dire need for some points, getting their #1 back tonight hopefully, and playing against a NJ team that is just riding off their tendy, this looks to be a solid winner. Take this one to the bank fellas. BOL

Leaning Flames as well. They were averaging 3 scores a night (minus last night) for the last 6 games I believe. My research agrees with the others' viewpoints as well. Well said SteveStewins, LeRinkRat, and Es-P.
When teams go into slumps they will always get a more valuable line than usual for a game or two before they bounce back. I think tonight is one of them. Combined with the fact that the Devils are coming in hot.
Initially looking at both teams recent numbers, Calgary's defense has looked like sh!t giving up an avg of 3 goals a game over the last 5 games. NYD's defense on the other hand have only given up 1.4 goals over the last 5 (dont quote me on that I know its around that number). Their offenses over the last 5 have scored both an avg of 2.4 per game. But then I looked at WHO theyve played and thats when Flames started looking like the better pick having a tough schedule. Axe_fresh noted this earlier.
CAL L5 games : Van,Bos, Min, Ana, and NYR Devils L5 games : Nsh, Buf, Van, Car, and AZ
Basically Flames have faced 5 tough opponents in the last 5 and Devils have 2. Tonight is a good spot for Calgary to settle in after their first game on the road last night playing its first easier opponent in its last ten games since January 31st vs the Oilers.
Calgary's L6-10 Games following EDM: LAK, SJS, PIT, SJS, WPG
Hope this info helps! Would love to hear what others have got to say I know theres probably a lot I've missed. Who likes the Devils tonight and why? Cheers.

Something you guys seem to be overlooking is the Devils have just been a machine at home. Also the Flames are skidding a bit, but something very interesting is their impressive 5-1 record on the back end of B2B games.

Devils are hardly a machine. Flames take this one in a low scoring snorefest.
At home they have been a machine in the L10 games. A snorefest is exactly what I am banking on.
You're totally right Lipps, I overlooked that stat. Against weaker opponents or not, New Jersey is 8-1-1 at home in their last 10 which is impressive.
**Also 2 hours ago Calgary announced Ramo will start in net tonight due to Hiller's poor play as of late. This could be a good / bad thing for Flames backers but that I am unsure of. He has only 3 starts this year and is 1-2 in those starts allowing 6 goals over those games. Not too bad but hard to tell from such a small sample size. He looked pretty good last night against the Rangers allowing 1 goal in 29 shots (.966), maybe he keeps that going tonight?

Hopefully everyone was able to take this win to the bank! Didn't get a chance to watch the game, but it looked pretty close for the most part. I haven't normally been posting my picks on here, but I will probably get around to it starting now. The chatter in the forum really is great. BOL everyone and check out my forum tomorrow.
