Its funny how sometimes I get those feelings.
I predicted that washington had to win and would start a little run...sure enough, 3 game winning streak and me betting on TB last night.
However, I am more on trends than most of you guys....If Anaheim hasnt won at the JOE in X amout of years...My money goes on Detroit no matter what...Why you might ask? Because if I bet on Detroit everytime Anaheim played them in the last X amount of years, ID BE RICH!
Ive also noticed AMD that youve been on the right side of favorable OT and SOs.
The last 5 OTs and SOs that I have bet on have all lost...That is 0-5. Jesus darn!
THe luck I have lately has been terrible. It has all started 4-5 monhts ago when Seattle completed a SO CALLED TD hail mary pass against Green Bay! Ever since then Ive been snakebitten...Whether it be Duke in College Football fumbling on the 1 yard line with 1:30 minutes left and then having the other team score 2 Tds ( not one Touchdown ) to cover the 9+ spread or it be the Wings winning 2-0 and losing in OT to the Blues or it be the Hawks winning and having Anaheim tie the game with 2 minutes left and then winning is a SO or whether it be last night when I took Minny in CBB...They tie in regulation..only to win by 5 when I had -5.5. The funny part...Minny has the ball with 33 seconds left up 3 and Wisconsin doesnt foul until 15 seconds left on the clock...Why the hell wouldnt Wisconsin foul right away????
Anyways....It is a combination or both with Intuition and trends..but I way more on trends...if a team has beaten the other team 9-10 times at home...Im willing to put my money on the same team.
Its like betting against the Hawks cuz they havent lost yet in Regulation..in the long run you will win money with better statistics and trends!
But again, just My OPINION that MEANS JACK SH.IT!

I remember reading about you suggesting that Washington would go on a run but I can't argue your Tampa play last night because I was leaning the same...However, I layed off because Tampa hasn't been in sync in the last two weeks, they are the most inconsistent teams that I can think of at this point. But...I can relate to your frustration as I had a few leans on some dogs who ended up winning and instead, I played San Jose in a 1-0 ot loss. Sometimes youre the windshield, sometimes youre the bug. But yes, you're right...I've been very fortunate in a few ot shootouts. As for the Anaheim/Detroit trend you mentioned, some guys love following the trends, some don't....I just happen to think they're more of a coincidence than anything else but you're right...if I played the trends, my bank acct would be looking great. These two teams are much different than their storied past so I prefer to just stick to tonights variables...personal preference, that's all. I appreciate your opinion, you've added a lot to the forum

I agree fully..I watched the Hawks/Ducks game...Ducks seem to have great goaltending, and 2 solid lines...and Koivu and Selanne have been drinking from the fountain of youth!
You da man AMD! YOU ARE MY KING!!!! ( dude hasnt posted since his Wings lost )

If the Wings win tonight, I'm sure Miggs will stop by the thread...gotta love his passion for his hometown team. Got a chuckle out of your posts as well...

You remembered
I do like Emery but I like Niemi as well....Earlier today, I almost pulled the trigger on San Jose....I'm contemplating taking the under, it's going to be a physical game especially with both teams having a couple of days rest

OG...Thanks for your post, I'm happy to respond.
I'm a nurse and my work/family is a bit unconventional as I Iive 2 hours north of Ann Arbor, MI but I work in San Jose. I work 12-16 hour shifts for a consecutive 7-10 days then I return home for a few weeks.....simply economics as to why I choose to work in the bay area. A few of the perks include being able to watch the west coast teams play at the HP Pavillion as well as heading down to the Joe every once in awhle when I'm home. I'm really not as busy as it might seem, in fact, my two young boys take up the majority of my time.
Regarding my analysis of the teams and, overall, the sport of hockey, there's nothing more valuable than having a "sixth sense" regarding the sport that is being wagered. It's one thing for an avid fan to gamble on games they watch along with being provided the wealth of statistical information but when you've actually played the game, it's easier to make wagers from a players perspective than by actually playing with just numbers. I was fortunate to be able to play a couple of years in the Blackhawks organization on a team equivelant to AA baseball....I played in the ECHL and the Fort Wayne Comets were our top tier minor league team back when Dominik Hasek, Ray LeBlanc and Jimmy Waite were our goaltenders and Eddie Belfour was in Chicago. I played a short time in the ECHL and was invited to Fort Wayne for a brief stint only to be completely undersized and outclassed. At 5'10, 185, my wheels werent good enough. Great experience, however, but I knew I was playing on borrowed time....this was 20 years ago. I never lost my passion for the game which is why I love the brudders in the Covers NHL forum because everyone has passion and a love for the NHL and most of everyone is very intelligent regarding the game. Hockey is a complex game and you have to understand the game to make money at it. Football, for example, is America's pasttime and even if you dont know anything about the X's and O's, the sport is marketed to the point where everyone who talks football may sound like a genious. With hockey, I know in the first 60 seconds whether someone knows the game or whether they're full of shitt.
So, while looking at boxscores or following stats or statistical trends, I try and cap the game on just as much intuition than the time I put in studying a teams recent success/trends in a variety of categories. Hope I've answered your questions...Good luck
Excellent answer---good point of view also!

Well, let me tell you...My son is now 14 months and for the first time since he was born he has slept through the night the last 2 days. This is a miracle. I actually slept 6 hours straight last night!
He used to wake up 4-5 times nightly...It was so effing terrible.
Like I posted a few days ago..When I open the NHL schedule and look at match ups and so on, it feels like a job. Not like last year where I would take an hour or so and make my picks and go play golf!
Hopefully I will get that feeling back this year. Now if the baby can keep sleepin, if the game can get better, I might just have a clear head to cap some games...I Know im betting to many games, but at the moment, Fuk it.
Cheers
