Just another case of fans being 'for' a penalty when it happens to their team but being unable to handle it when their own player commits the penalty. Now, we'll get to see if the NHL has the balls to call a spade a spade and suspend Hossa for the rest of the series (2 games) just like they did to Ovechkin.
I hope Nashville wins this game on the PP in OT. Then they'll have a reason to boo.
Just another thought...man, Huet must REALLY be off his game if he can't get on the ice in this series. Either that, or Quennville might be the goat in the windy city this offseason.

They'll suspend him for one game imo. Of course the crowd boo's b/c it's their team and frustrated. They definately weren't gonna get all quiet or cheer.

I beg to differ...booing or cheering your team is a question of mentality and approaching sports in general. Just to show an example and make my point: Austrian hockey league, Fri, 10/16/2009, 17:30pm local time, KHL Medvescak Zagreb (my home team) vs EHC Linz BlackWings. Home team was playing bad entire game and were losing from the very start, midway through the 3rd period the score was 5:1 for Linz. Usually a sellout crowd of 6,000 fans supports our team and we're really loud and cheer throughout the gamebut this time the arena was only half full, probably because of an early weekday start. And then it started...3,000 people got up from their chairs and started to sing one fan song to try and get the team going, as loud as never before without stopping, just as if someone pressed the REPEAT button on a CD player. That lasted about 10 minutes or so, there was hardly any interruptions in the game 'cause it was basically decided, and in the last minute of play the home team scored twice to restore some pride and shove the fans into a total frenzy. The song was still going and going for 20 more minutes after the game had ended, and the players have returned on ice literally crying because none of them ever felt that kind of support or seen anything like it. That was round 15 (or so) of 54 game schedule and after that encores were happening on a regular basis and the arena was sold out for the rest of the season. I know it's not the NHL or nowhere near that quality of hockey (most of the players on our team are Canadians and Americans of Croatian heritage and have played in the AHL or EHL and only some of them had limited NHL experience) but that doesn't matter, supporting your home team in wins and losses is what does matter and I can assure you that when a game is on the line, no matter how bad the situation looks, that is when a team needs the support of their fans the most and in these parts the fans realize that and actually act on it, regardless of the outcome, frustrated or not. I feel sad for everyone who hasn't experienced that kind of bond between fans and players, you have no idea what you're missing.

It's always been like that. The infraction is called on the injury not the intent.
so what if Hamhuis is diagnosed with a concussion later tonight? they can't exactly go back and give Hossa his deserved match penalty. that's what makes that interpretation ridiculous. you can't base penalties on the result of the infraction. by that logic, a questionable tripping call that results in the offended player going head-first into the boards and cutting himself becomes more of a penalty than a blatant cheap shot from which the offended player gets up under his own power without injury. the blatant cheap shot is clearly the more dangerous foul, but according to protocol it wouldn't be enforced that way. that's just a load of crap.
it's the same thing with the interpretation of high sticking, and the players know it. we all see the "soccer-esque" reactions players take now as soon as they get nicked with a stick -- flopping around, gloves thrown in the air, stick launched, rolling around like they're trying to win an academy award -- only to get up, skate off and never miss a shift. the point is -- enforce the spirit of the rule and quit basing enforcement on the outcome and enforce the rules on intent instead.

Guess what.......they do........If he was layed out on the ice and they had to scrape him off it would of been completely different.

this is my whole point in a nutshell. you can't just give penalties out because a guy is bleeding or not, or unconscious or not. the NHL has stacked the game with these types of interpretations and it's worse off because of it.
and don't even get me started on the delay of game penalty for flipping the puck out of your own zone. you talk about a rule that needs re-interpretation immediately...
