he block it with the end of his pad

 

and the pad was 6 inches behind the goal line

It was a goal imo.

But the right call was made as there wasn't conclusive evidence to overturn the call on the ice.

Thats what I saw too so you can assume the puck was in because of where his pad was and the direction the puck was traveling but because you never see the puck with white ice between it and the line its no goal it has to be conclusive it probably was in but with no proof ...no goal

i think there was plenty of evidence to rule that a goal.  i'm not on board with this failure to produce 'conclusive evidence' decision.  anyone who has ever played the game should know that's a goal.  puck on the leg pad, leg pad in the net, therefore, puck in the net.  i guess it was some magic bullet puck that defied gravity and the laws of inertia and simply hovered in mid air.

I dont think they should change the rule, I do think there could be better technology  in use like cameras mounted all across the bottom of the crossbar or even a GPS puck that knew exactly where it was at all times but you cant call that a goal just based on an assumption that it went in. It could have easily bounced off of his pad just as he was crossing the line and stayed right there on the line we dont know because we ddnt see it

they made the right call

keith jones on versus the other night pointed out two such experiences in his own playing career that reflect exactly what's happening to pitt tonight -- a 4OT game he played in in which his team lost, and then lost the series, and a 5OT game he played in which he won, and his team came back from down 3-1 to win the series.  long OT games are emotional drains and it's not surprising to see ottawa with an early lead.  but as i mentioned above, the pens aren't dead yet.  they get the next one and it's back on.  malkin is a ghost.  i think he and semin decided to take a vacation together this year instead of attending their respective playoff series.
