Yeah E-Z, was liking the over as well...two young teams, maybe a lot of turnovers, defensive lapses, and of course the Leafs goalie troubles so far. Young guns on both teams can put the puck in the net! Just more confident in my ML picks at the moment.

0-3...Ouch, rough start to the new month. TBay might have to go on my no fly list until further notice...every time I bet on them they look absolutely craptastic, and like Cup champs when I bet against them.

Montreal -0.5 (1st period), 2.40/+140 (bet365)
I tried one of these 1st period plays once already this season on the moneyline and it was a push as the period ended 0-0. It was a play against Vancouver in the situation and that's what this play is as well. To keep things mostly brief, the Canucks have been slow-starters so far this season averaging 1 goal against in 1st periods overall (-0.78 differential) and 1.50 goals against in the 1st period on the road (-1 differential) although they've only played 2 road games. They have a 0-5-4 record in 1st periods and have only scored in the 1st period in 2 games this year. Obviously going up against Carey Price won't help.
The danger here is that Montreal isn't necessarily lightning fast starters either, and we are laying a -0.5 goal so we won't have the insurance of a push if the 1st ends in a tie. The Habs still have a positive differential though of +0.11 goals in the 1st period overall, and +0.4 at home. They also have yet to allow a goal at home in the 1st period so we are hoping if they can just score one that will be enough.
I was also looking at the total but would hate to push on 5 playing the under if this game ends up 3-2 or 4-1 or something, and was also looking at Vancouver TT under but I can't find a line for under 1.5 (it is sitting at -200 for under 2.5). Vancouver is the lowest scoring team in the league so far, and again playing Carey Price and a red hot canadiens team won't help. I will be watching and if the in-game TT drops to 1.5 at low juice I might ump on it!
Det/Phi over 5.5, 2.05/+105 (bet365)
Fairly simple logic for this one...Philadelphia games have a record of 7-0 to the over 5.5 (also 1-1-1 on total of 5) in their 10 games so I will keep going back to that well till it stops. Except for the first game of the season against LA which they won 4-2, the Flyers have allowed 3 or more goals in every single game. They've also shown they can score some goals and have good PP numbers (27%) and not so good PK numbers (75%). Detroit sits at about 20% for the PP and 80 for the PK, so hopefully we can get a few freebies tonight. If these two teams can break the ice early it should be a fairly back and forth game with goals at both ends, like the rest of Philly's games have gone so far.
BOL to everyone!

I guess I should've just played the under or even Montreal -1.5 last night...horrid performance in the 1st period getting only 3 shots even with 2 PP chances, including one right at the end of the period that could've saved the play. Habs got booed off the ice...
But at least the Det/Phi over came through to even out the night, 1-1.

Penguins are on a tear and LA hasn't scored in 3 games. Peter Budaj's Cinderella story seems to have ended after those first 4 wins. Pittsburgh is on the second of a back-to-back but they should continue rolling.
Boston ML, 2.45/+145 (bookmaker)
I know I said I wouldn't but this is my last hurrah for plays on Lightning games. They've been really inconsistent with their efforts and I've been on the wrong end of zigging when I should be zagging and vice versa. Pastrnak is back for the Bruins tonight and I'll take +145 anytime with one of the best goalies in Rask who's picked up right where he left off after his injury.
Good luck everyone!
