Rusty Buckets NHL thread

How's it going everybody. Decided to start a thread with my picks. Will keep this 1 thread for the year and all are welcome. Stats, trends, analysis or just some good hockey discussions are welcome as well. Some of these lines I grabbed earlier in the day so I apologize for any discrepancies with current lines. Transparency is important so going forward I will try to post as soon as my picks are in. Good luck everybody and let's get after the books!

Thanks man! I do lean sharks but I've learned it's best not to fade the Knights. they are legit man. I really do like the under ( specifically 1st P as posted above). Both of these teams are real sound on defense and I think this will be a game that will be physical early and often. goals will be difficult to come by. combine that with Jones and Fleury in net, especially after his 1st terrible performance going back to Pittsburgh, I think this is a low scoring game. Defenses will want to set the tone in this one. I see a 1-0 Sharks 1st P

Chad Johnson has been one of the worst goalies in the league facing a red hot team right now. He has given up 4 goals or more in 5 of his last 7 and I don't see that changing here. The Wild will be pissed off coming off that horrible loss to the Yotes. Wild have scored 3 or more at home in 9 of last 11 games. Expect them to skate their a** off tonight and put at least 3 in net against an underperforming Chicago team that has a journey man in net with pretty bad numbers. 

Ouch Boston. Ouch.

Yeah you're not freaking kidding. Rask has arguably been the best goalie in hockey over the last 2 months and the worst offense puts 4 in net. And that was without Eichel.. Yeesh

2/10 Results: 4-6 -$440

Horrible night on the ice for me. Boston laid an egg and mailed it in. Can't cap lack of effort. Regardless, the results are the results no excuses. We caught some luck in the Sharks game covering the PL considering they coughed up a 3-0 lead and then put 2 in net late in the 3rd. After that Boston debacle, the night could have been much worse. I knew I didn't care for the card much tonight and I should have stuck to my guns. Tomorrow is a new day

Let me start out by saying I'm a die-hard Rangers fan and watch just about every game. This team is in complete free fall mode who will be selling the farm within a few weeks. They have one of the worst defenses I've ever seen with this squad, the offense has been atrocious since losing Kreider and they are riddled with key injuries. The best player on this team is Lundqvist, despite what the numbers tell you. He's essentially playing 1 on 5 out there and at age 38 he simply can't carry the team night in night out like he used to. The Rangers come to Winnipeg at the worst time possible. This is an absolutely awful spot for the Rangers after Winnipeg just got outplayed at home and dominated by their division rival who is nipping at their heels in the standings. Rangers come into the game losing 7 of their last 8 on the road and the 2 wins before that came in OT games to Arizona and Buffalo ( Buffalo wasn't even a true road game because of the winter classic in Queens). Winnipeg needs to win every game to keep up in the standings. They are in the best division in hockey, in my opinion, and they can't afford to lose to bottom feeders like the Rangers. I don't expect lack of motivation to be a factor here after the home loss to the Blues. To top it off the Jets are yet to lose back to back home games this year and I would be stunned if it happened today and will take the loss right on the chin and not have 1 regrets if they do. After Boston's debacle last night, obviously anything can happen. But with the Rangers playing for nothing and Jets playing for everything, given the circumstances I just don't see Jets losing at home. As if the Jets needed more motivation, the Blues are playing right now (which I think they will win) and if the Jets go down today they will lose even more ground on them. I've been making money fading the Rangers over the last month and this is as bad a spot for them as it gets quite honestly. This is an unusual bet for me. I rarely go this big but the stars are aligned for this one.
