Ducks get the #1 seed in West and they are not even a top 10 team in the league.  Ducks are 17th in the league in goal differential, with a meager +10.  A look at any of the advanced stats such as Corsi and Fenwick also puts them as a middling team.  They cannot stop anyone on D and are a classic Boudreau regular season team.  Now the Ducks get to avoid the 4 best teams in the west until the Conference Finals because of this ridiculously uneven bracket.  The Wild would have been favoured against the Ducks in a series, or at least near even money, and I would have hammered the Wild at that price.  Even the Jets have a legit chance at beating these Ducks, and if the line gives the Jets anymore than +140 this is the best value play on the board.  Good luck folks!

One of the least compelling series of the opening round....It's a shame these don't get the blues and jets so the blues and jets could beat them both up then meet in the second round, crappy luck for us viewers, one of these paper tigers will get to advance.

oh really, please document any reason why anyone should trust the Blues to beat anyone good in the playoffs? Even San Jose if in would run through those soft chokers...

the mighty ducks are very much a fraud..how they own the best record in the west is anyones guess

from an upset point of view, jets easily hold the best chance in round 1

somehow the books still think anaheim has the best chance to win stan's cup which is pretty funny
early exit this year mighty's..get the f** outa here

yes, high profiled offenses usually run for cover in post seasons...wish we were there to finish them at home again...

Yes the Ducks are just horrible, that's why they had 109 pts this year. 

I get so sick of hearing about Corsi.  The stat that's been around for a very long time, but just now the masses are hearing about it. 

They don't play the games on a piece of paper, you use it as a tool, it's not the final end all.

They have met in the playoffs in the 2011-2012 season and the Blues beat them from post to pillar so badly in 5 games I almost felt sorry for the ladies from San Jose LOL, and that was when the Sharks were at their peak a few seasons ago, the Sharks are even worse now and the Blues have a better team now so how the fuk does your statement make any sense??

With that said we both know the regular season means nothing respect wise, which is why we would both make fun of san jose. Bruce Boudreau coached teams have a history of great regular season followed up by complete playoff collapses due to soft, non fundamentally sound hockey and so do the Ducks in general ever since they won the Cup years back which was a COMPLETELY different team. I kinda like the Ducks but until their play in the playoffs in some way resembles their play in the regular season they will be considered to be nothing but a paper tiger. We shall see if they can win a couple of rounds and to something to improve that fact this season, one round is not enough for as you say such a successful season so they need to reach the conference finals at least.

Lippsman I am by no means just an advanced stat geek, but was using that to advance my reasoning.  I did not say they are horrible, I feel like they are a middling team, a fraud, meaning not as they appear.  Ducks are 19th in the league in goals allowed, and I think you would have to go back a long way to find a team that won the cup ranking 19th or worse in goals against.  Luckily for them, the Ducks would not have to play a strong team until the 3rd round with this bracket.

The only thing the Blues lack is a championship netminder period, anyone that can't see that must have been watching bowling the last 5 season. The ONLY different in their two series with the Kings was Quick was incredible and Elliot was absolute trash, No team in the world can win with  garbage netminder against a conn smythe calibre netminder. They have a big issue at one very important position which will most likely cost them once again, but that is the ONLY reason, they are sound in every single other facet of the game, if you can't see that stick to Nascar.

well the way i see it, no one is calling the mighty ducks a lousy team, just very much overrated despite their great record

aren't they something like 28-2 in games decided by 1 goal? there's got to be some flukiness to that stat 

i;ve watched most of their games in the last few months and they have not been impressive at all..the offense has no flow, defense is very mediocre, power play is downright terrible, average goaltending

great teams know the importance of heading into the post season on a high note and the mighty ducks have sputtered into the post season.. their 81st game of the season was one of the most pitiful performances i've seen and they barely handled the coyotes last night

if that 28-2 stat is more than just a fluke, then they should roll in the playoffs because everyone knows playoff hockey is tight and low scoring

i'm a getzlaf fan so i hope they can go deep..they might just end up sweeping the jets who the hell knows, but if they end up meeting st. louis or minnesota in the wcf, i don't see them taking either of teams out in a 7 game series

we shall see

The thing about the Ducks is that they were 33-1-7 in one-goal games this season. That's pretty nutty - breaks the record of the 06-07 Devils (who lost in the 2nd round that year).

Anaheim will be one of the bigger favorites in Round 1...

Game 1 odds already out ...There's only one bigger dog than the Jets.

Jets have been playing better ,but their goalie is due to come back down to earth and regress to how he normally is, Bruce is an idiot of a coach, he still plays Clayton Stone over other defensemen on the ducks, so that should tell you something.

Agreed 100% the Jets goaltending is a HUGE question mark and will almost certainly be what sinks them either sooner or later, I do hope they at least give their deserving fans a great series to see after so many years without playoff hockey. Also agree Bruce Boudreau is completely dumbfounded when it comes to hockey that matters as in playoff hockey. Which shoe will drop first is the question.

Really, you shouldn't drink on Sundays, bro-the Blues hardly scored in most of the games since 2010, lost at home too much and showed no ability to come back...yeah, they beat the Sharks but what does that mean? They are NO obstacle until they prove they can win a meaningful playoff series..in 2012 the Kings just crushed them

P.S Crap for brains this season the Blues scored more goals than all three California teams while allowing less than all three and the Kings have not been able to score for years, but have won with defence, good fundamental hockey and as I said incredible goaltending. Now quit while you are behind. The Blues will miss out again because they do not have adequate goaltending and they have not had it in years.

I'll quit when I want to...so when did regular season really matter or did you bet too much on the Canucks this decade and all the President's Cup winners?? The Kings were a 8th seed, bro in 2012 and had no home ice, won 3 game 7's last year on the road...do you see any intestinal fortitude on the Blues that leads you to think they could do anything like that? Do you understand intangibles like heart and do you not get that defenses win championships most of the time?
