i really dont think chavanel was going for the win, just KOM. he got it and will try to keep it. i dont see him being in another breakway. it is very very rare to see a guy do it 2 days in a row. like flecha and wegmann plays. sooner or later you know those guys will try to get in a break.

Yep, as I have plenty of money and am up so far, I currently put $30 on for the win for Flecha @ $26 and $50 on the place @ $8
A breakaway should succeed today and I would be surprised if Flecha doesn't make it into the break!

On the final climb or the one before, I see Cunego and CSC and possibly some Euskatel Riders attacking. Zubeldia or Sanchez might be the ones to attack on the final. Sanchez is my early tip for the stage.

dont like zulbeldia's and cunego's form so far. they got hammered on stage 6 and there was no reason for them to hold back. they may be in a break though, because they know they can't ride with the big boys.

That Category one climb, even though it's about 57km from the finish is going to be too much for the sprinters to regroup, especially with a cat 3 22km from the finish.

I'm pretty sure that Columbia will have agressive tactics today and send someone in the breakaway and if the breakaway is caught, then push Kirchen up. Kirchen 2 minutes behind 6th place and 2 minutes 49 behind the yellow jersey needs an attack if he is to get his top 5 he wanted at the start of the tour. He's cracked before and these other riders havn't cracked yet. The day after a rest day will suit Kirchen. He needs to attack on the last climb and then make a dare devil descent to try and peg back 30 odd seconds. The more the better. Siutsou may be the man in the breakaway. Krueziger is an interesting choice. Kohl and the Schleck's need to blow up soon and it should be tonight. The body can't keep this up any longer surely. If they do blow up, then it plays into The Euskatel riders hands and also Valverde and Kirchen who both have blown up already who should have enough gas to outlast the others who should blow up today.

dont see any sign of cracking from f schleck either. like the valverde pick but not enough to pay that juice. i think the climb is too steep for valverde to win it. look for menchov or sastre to take this, although f schleck has won this climb before.
now that i think about it, kreuziger could get in a break in order to try to win the white jersey. that will really screw me, although i think the gc contenders should still pull back anyone who gets away on this vicious day.

a) A rest and an assualt to crawl up a couple of places tomorrow
b) a breakaway chance to get some points to come second or third in the points competition.
I favour the first as he is no chance of the points competition. So that leaves Credit Agricole and Milram to chase down a break.
Ballan is targetting a stage win and so is Chavanel. Ballan's terrain is better today as is Chavanel compared to yesterday. Quick-Step are still looking for a win as is Euskatel. Ruben Perez might try a break today for Euskatel - he hasn't ever won a race so today he might fancy himself.
