The Hawk, Kenny Harrelson, remembers Ed
when got to the big leagues with the Indians.

“He was a thoroughbred, I’ll tell you that.
I’ve known him since he was 18 years old.
Didn’t take long, a couple of appearances,
and you knew you'd something going there
because he was tough.

Great competitor. All the guys just loved him.
He was one of those guys that you could tie,
but you couldn’t beat as a person.
He was just a wonderful person. Unique.
Pissed a lot of people off, but he didn’t care.
He was not afraid of anything. He was't afraid
of anybody or anything or any situation.

He loved his job. Even in bad health for awhile
now, he would just tough it out.
A lot of guys – they’d be in the ICU with what
he was going through, but he never complained.
Not one time in all the years going thru this."

Ed was a native of Evergreen Park, IL, and a
graduate of Saint Rita High on the South Side.
All-Star for the ChiSox (1980) saved 30 games
 — at that time, a Chicago record for saves.

Ed Farmer + Darrin Jackson

Darrin Jay Jackson joined Ed on broadcasts.
D.J. also played for the Chicago White Sox.
The start was D.J. getting verbally/logically
beaten up pretty bad by Ed, but took it and
stayed silent & ccol. Eventually DJ started
fighting back with witty comebacks backed
by situational stats of the present and past.
Ed struck back at that, letting it end a Draw.
DJ had to prove he was "Steady Eddie" guy.

Then it just clicked like 2 professionals who
love their area of endeavor & their audience.
The Ed+DJ team got to "MLB's Miami Vice"

DJ's tough, but this loss of Ed gots to be tuff.
