Tigers got a few handy outs and Maric is another that will prove telling in my opinion. I still believe Richmond will have just enough class to get the four points but it is certainly not going to be a one sided affair by any means. Carlton +27.5 points is currently -108. The new coach will have his team playing with a new flare of confidence.

Going to take Melbourne to win (+140) in today's game at the MCG. I think the odds are a little skewed as Melbourne are not getting as much credit as they deserve given their practice match form coming in. Two terrific young midfields, this is going to be a brilliant, even contest. Garlett & Hogan to kick 6 between them as Melbourne win this one by a goal. Expect Stevie Johnson to slot a few at the other too.
$215 on Melbourne to make about $300.

I'm going to take a prop bet for tonight's game between North Melbourne v Adelaide. Most disposals head to head bet available at TAB. Rory Sloane versus Rory Laird. This is an interesting market as I expect Sloane to cop the brunt of attention from the opposition given how influential he can become if left alone. Rory Laird is a ball magnet and a terrific reader of the play. Laird to gather more touches than Sloane which is currently at -131 odds.
$275 to make $209.
In the other game between Sydney v Collingwood at the SCG, I like the total match points to climb just over 175.5 points. All indications point to a lowish kind of tally but the way Collingwood have been moving the ball this preseason . . . I think they will kick 13+ goals and Sydney will have no trouble matching them as Heeney, Franklin, Parker and Tippett is a formidable forward line.
$250 on over 175.5 points to make $225.

Sorry about the late reply. Hope you picked a winner either way.
Not confident on tonight's game between West Coast v Brisbane. Only market I would be confident in is the goal scoring bets as I think Josh Kennedy is going to have his way with the Brisbane defenders. Only worry is they have him listed at 6 goals & Eagles win. Eagles winning is obviously a no issue as they will smack them good and proper but not sure Kennedy will kick 6 goals. Maybe 4-5 goals as he does setup goals himself.
Only a small bet but I'm going with the score and win bet which is Kennedy to kick 6 goals and West Coast win which is currently at +250 odds. $100 to make $250.
I'll also take West Coast -52.5 points at -140 odds. $150 to make $105.

6-0 thus far. Round one of the AFL always tends to be the easiest round for tips and bets for some reason. Next week will be full of upsets and unexpected events.
Final game of the round between Geelong v Hawthorn and it should be a guy of a contest. Really should be a close game right throughout. I fancy Hawthorn despite their outs/departures and inclusions for Geelong (Henderson, Smith, Dangerfield) in the trade season. Ceglar vs Smith in ruck will be intriguing because Ceglar is a pure athlete first and foremost but turning into a very capable footballer. I expect Ceglar to hit the scoreboard lurking forward at times in this game. At the end of the day, this is Hawthorn. It doesn't matter if they bring in an inexperienced player. Alastair Clarkson is a tactical genius who gets the very best out of his players on the big stage.
For Geelong, they looked a hell of a lot better in the practice games this year but still lost to Fremantle and Collngwood. Two teams who were completely blown off the park in the earlier games of this round. If Hawkins and possibly Stanley/Kersten can combine for 6 between them, Geelong will win but having said that, Frawley is a top notch defender and he plays Hawkins well so I'm going to have back in the better team in this contest.
Hawthorn to win by a couple of goals so I will take Geelong +13.5 points at -142 odds. $265 to make $200

I usually don't like to make a bet until I know the team selections but after watching Hawthorn play Geelong on the weekend, I'm feeling confident West Coast will have far too much firepower against them.
Going to put $500 on West Coast -2.5 currently at -110 odds. This game is played on Sunday.

8-0 West Coast game still pending. Line has gone to -6.5 in that one as the public have been backing the Eagles all week.
Melbourne v Essendon at the MCG tomorrow. Should be a good game but I feel Melbourne's midfield will start to dominate as the game wears on and we have yet to really see the Dees explode, or give us a glimpse of what is in store for the future and I think they show us in one the quarters in this game.
Going to play Melbourne -37.5 points for $250 to try and get back $212.

The Dees dominated the I50s and forward-half ball for almost all match last round against the Giants but would implode once they got there.
If they can figure this out against the Bombers, this won't be a contest.
The question is, will they?
lol well there's your answer to that one! What a terrible pick and sorry if anyone followed and lost some hard earned dough.
I am going to play one more game for tonight, Fremantle v Gold Coast at Subiaco. Terrific conditions which should see a free flowing game (something's Freo need to drastically improve on). At first, I thought the line of -30.5 points was about right as you expect them to bounce back with some handy ins coming into the side but on the flip side, Gold Coast are no push overs. They are a different team this year and I expect them to make a game of this. It's not going to be easy as the line is pretty much spot on.
Going to take Gold Coast +30.5 points at -125 odds. $365 to make $292.

Taking Brisbane Lions +55.5 points against Geelong who are an overrated football team. Too reliant on a select few and although the Lions have some big outs, I expect Geelong to leek some goals as the back-line is slow and one dimensional.
$350 to hopefully make $315
$1000 on the Western Bulldogs ML. This team is the real deal. Midfield is as good as it gets and although Hawthorn flexed their muscles last week and made a statement, the Dogs will have too much speed and athleticism for Hawthorn. Will be a nail biter. Expect big games from Dahlhaus and Libba in particular.
As always, good luck
