BTW.........really liking the Knights this round in NRL.  Haven't looked at it fully, but I might jumped ship this round and focus more of my wagering in league.

Blasphemy to the n'th degree............but sometimes you have to do what you have to do!

How about we buy "Monday's" paper today...then we will know what to back!

IMO it is not an easy round.

I think the main factor at the moment is whether teams come to play and secondly how much of the match they remain focused for. This is pretty tricky to forecast.
 
Collingwood and Melbourne fired up last week, while Geelong, St Kilda and Adelaide barely showed up.
 
Looking at past scores, lineups, position on the ladder etc doesn't help much when one team tries alot harder than usual or one puts in much less effort.
 
This is a factor in all sports, but I would suggest magnified in AFL given how hard players have to push themselves.
 
In alot of cases I am not even sure you can determine this before the game, even if you are the coach for example. Often it just appears to unfold early in the game.
 
I am placing more emphasis on past head to head records at the moment. This may have given you West Coast and Collingwood possibly others last week. I find it difficult to go with often though as it more often than not seems to go against form.

Most clubs this year have raised their game and been more focused when they have played Geelong.

Interesting to see so much money on the bulldogs and all talk of Mitchell being a late withdrawl. But I'll probably leave that game alone.

Hawks are training at 3.30pm today, so I'm very interested to see if Mitchell trains.
