This for my mind is a better line than the -23.5, less profitable but also less risky.
If you watch the game last week vs the Swans you will know the Hawks game plan. They have not changed it much. The Pies game plan is about quick and long, lateral movements to marking targets. The slowness of the Hawks midfield should mean that by Q4 the Pies will pull away. This is why Alistair Clarkson moved Rioli into the midfield to give them more speed. Against my slow Swans it worked. The tables should get turned tonight.
So much has been made of Cloke and Dawes and the undersized and under strength Hawks backline. The Pies back line speaks for itself they have the best record in the AFL for the stingiest defense. You never want to play big lines against teams that play keep me off footy.
Also don't place anything until a half hour before the game. You don't want to be burnt by late changes and substitutions. Lots of mind games at this time of the year and both teams are carrying players that are hurting.
