First off, I know you’re reading this Chic I just want to give you nice welcome and a nice FUCK YAH goodbye.
Below is the Chic-Cardinal Rule designed to remove the plague that is Chic-Cardinal gibberish baloney.
I didn’t see this coming, but Covers admins deserve all the love for this move.
Behold the Chic-Cardinal Rule 06/03/2022.
Over the last couple of years there have been a lot of posts about sports and leagues being rigged, or some iteration, in various forums on Covers. Until now, these types of posts and threads were tolerated in any sub forum on Covers. Today we have implemented a new rule to our forum guidelines to restrict these kinds of threads and posts to a single forum, the 'Other' forum. From now on if a user makes a 'rigged' thread in any forum that isn't the 'Other' forum, then it will be moved to the aforementioned forum and the poster will be suspended. Similarly, if a users makes a 'rigged' post on a thread that isn't in the 'Other' forum, it will be deleted and the user suspended. Bans will be given out upon repeat offences.
The reason for this new guideline is because many of these threads and topics take away from people trying to have legitimate sports betting discussions, and negatively impacts their experience in the forum.

It's odd in a way , because the NFL is legally a sports entertainment business and NOT a contested sport...The other sports entertainment businesses are pro wrestling and roller derby .

I would advocate that if any of the Scripters/Riggers would just post the predetermined outcome b4 the game starts, I'd have no problem with the posts. But it NEVER happens. It's a constant stream of 100% post game gibberish that contributes nothing to what most of us want to accomplish here.

Makes no difference at all. If someone did post it before the game, you and others wouldn't bet it anyway. You'd wait to see the outcome and then hit it the next time that person posts. But what if he never posted again? It doesn't matter to me if someone believes the games are real or fake. I have my own beliefs on it and I've cashed in on those beliefs.

Hey saints fan...you're trying to change the argument, buddy. We're not talking about what we'd bet IF somebody posted BEFORE THE GAME...Dyamarik is saying that the scripted guys who CLAIM TO KNOW it's scripted WAIT TIL THE GAME IS OVER to say how they knew it all the time. C'mon saints fan...c'mon man...keep up buddy...it's not that difficult if you have a HS education.

I'd be interested in this. I think a lot of conspiracy theorist, of which I am not accusing Dub of being, I think they often get caught up in wording and semantics. In the legalese of things. And sometimes these things mean something. Sometimes they mean nothing. And sometimes the meaning isn't what some might under but dudes will one sentence or statement and extrapolate an entire narrative from it.
My guess is that the NFL, knowing there always exist a possibility that one of their refs could be crooked, didn't want to leave them selfs open to litigation by some disgruntled 2 buck gambler.

I've long believed that the league has its refs manipulate on average 2-3 games per week ..Doesn't necessarily mean helping one team to victory, more often than not it's keeping the game close until the final seconds .Many Primetime , national TV and playoff games appear manipulated to me. ..Has to be astromincal odds that the last 7 playoff games all came down to the final seconds to end the season
The networks and streaming services paid massive amounts of money in the latest deal ..Close games = huge money from advertisers....

Once you set a legal precedent that you're a sports entertainment and not a contested sport it would be nearly impossible to be sued for game manipulation ....
Even if a ref came out and said the league told them to keep it close or let teams get away wirh egregious holding leading to points , how could you sue the NFL ??? Could you sue the WWE for manipulating a sports entertainment event ?

@StumpTownStu https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/062515/how-nfl-makes-money.asp Read this entire article, then tell me why on earth would the nfl need to rig any single game. The league makes money hand over fist, the games are played fairly, no one knows who wins or loses, and it doesn't matter.
When have I ever said the NFL needs to rig games to make money. I know how the NFL makes money. I'm pretty damn well versed in the business off events and entertainment, of which the NFL is a part of.

The truth is if anyone was privy to that information they wouldn't post the details on a message board.
I don't know about scripted but I think there is some shady things happening in many of the games.

If games were manipulated it would boil down to money and they would be risking a LARGE chunk should it come to light that their product was an being shim shamed. I can hear Jerry Jones in the owners meetings now " c'mon guys cant we manipulate me a super bowl before i hit the big owners suite in the sky". My guess is that they would lose millions of fans and how would they recruit new ones, would the commercial go something like come watch so & so game and try to guess how we fixed it you will be surprised.

My speculation is that just Roger and the Refs are in on it ..Why would this league employee Tony Corrente after he was forced to resign from the head of pac 12 officiating for making dubious calls that assisted schools to stay in contention for new years day bowls ?
The Patriots were caught cheating multiple times ( only bc someone blew them in to the media ) , Roger just swept it under the rug and burned rhe tapes ...
To answer your question though, plenty of adults know wrestling is " fixed " and still spend big money going to events , buying merchandise etc ...
Many of us die hards and degenerates would never give up on the NFL even if they admitted some games are manipulated...

Most "adults" spending money at wrestling events are taking their children on a fun outing. Those who aren't are nerds/incels.
Most people would not continue to support the NFL is they admitted it was manipulated. And they would open themselves to litigation that would go on for decades, destroy the league, and let all sorts of skeletons out of the closet, many unrelated to football.
The risk isn't worth the reward for the leagues to manipulate games. Let alone 2-3 games a week. And can you even draw significant direct correlations to closer games and higher ratings? I'm not talking about memorable playoff games. I'm talking week in, week out, where most people grow up watching the team in their market can we make a case for the NFL risking it's market share for a few extra ratings points. Or is it all just fairytale stuff.

So it’s just Roger and the refs and never has a ref felt like he didn’t get his and exposed this to public? How many people total over the years you think would have been involved?
No way? Way

In post #13, I meant to reply to DU. Didn't see that I replied to you on accident.
So on a different note, my general feeling on the topic at hand is this:
Those who cry rigged or fixed are losing $ on wagering. Lots of us lose $ on wagering. It's hard, nearly impossible to win consistently. The ones that do win, are a minority. There are good guys here at covers who do succeed. But that's such a small % of people.
I had a really good stint a few years back, but it didn't last. Everything reverts to the mean at some point. The highs are great, and the lows hit hard to the gut.
The bookies have the easiest job in the world, and that is to tax an unpredictable sporting event. It really is a do nothing job where millions of people are handing over their money for the thrill.
