WNBL Final Round

YTD: 6-9

Not exactly how I picture my season to go and trying to save something here. 

The final 4 is sorted, just need placings now.

Flyers, Boomers, Capitals and Fire all qualfy.

Flyers are 9-2 with 2 to go (Flames and Capitals)
Capitals are 8-3 with 2 to go (Lynx and Flyers)
Boomers are 8-3 with 2 to go (Spirit and Fire
Fire are 7-4 with 2 to go (Boomers and Lightning).

So there is still a lot to play for.

In the condensed season, the finals are just going to be one off games.

1st vs 2nd
3rd vs 4th (losing team eliminate)

The winner from 1st vs 2nd goes straight to the final and the losing team will play the winner of 3rd vs 4th. The winner of this game will then go through to the finals. 

Tonight we have Flyers vs Flames and Capitals vs Lynx. 

Lines I am seeing is Flyers -20.5 and 161.5 and Capitals -11.5 and 149.5

Its pretty hard to cap this league with such insane high spreads. 

Looking into the first game now. 

Canberra Capitals vs Perth Lynx: Capitals -10.5

Canberra very poor the other night vs Townsville and need a win and a big performance tonight. Tupaea appears to be out so they lose a player off the bench but I think we see the big mins from their starters and Perth might start to rotate some of their younger players and give them some more time on the court.

I was wrong, Lightning in 5th are still alive and they play Townsville who are in 4th tonight. Should be a great game hopefully. 

Good news is that the NBL is returning on 10 January and because the state borders are now opened here in Australia, the teams will play at their home courts in front of fans apart from the NZ Breakers. They have to stay in Australia during the season. Hopefully within the next 1-2 months Australia and NZ will allow a "travel bubble" so that people can travel between both countries with no quarantine.  

Ok so the Spirit are looking at going 0-14 which is just horrible. They have held the lead in certain games and their inexperience has just lead to leads crumbling away. Last game Carly Ernst dropped 17 in the 1Q and they somehow only managed 59 points in that game after she finished with 32 (more than half). Between her and Lavey, the took 45 shots and the rest of the teams took 24 so hopefully they get more of a helping hand from the other players. The book has kept their TT at 60.5 for this game even though they haven't hit 61+ in 3 straight games. Boomers need a win and i expect them to be focused tonight. I find it hard to see how the Boomers dont score close to 90 in this game given the fact that the Spirit are waiting to pack their bags on see their loved ones. I think Spirit can get between 58-63 in this game with the Boomers making up the rest. Think we see Melbourne have a little fun tonight before taking on Townsville on Sunday which is going to be a very important game for both teams.

Yeah vaccine has started already. But for the elderlies in care home and nhs front liners. Covid situation is still worse in here mate. We are in a lockdown but people don't take it seriously. Such a shame 

Waiting on some injury news to a key player for the Flyers 

Canberra Capitals vs Southside Flyers: Flyers -5.5

Double revenge today in this game. Capitals beat the Flyers in last season playoffs to win the championship and they also humiliated them in their one meeting this season. Even though Cambage wasn’t part of the team last year I think she goes beast mode today and when she is dialled in, she is one of the best players in the world

 Scary mate that some haven’t taken Covid seriously. Definitely glad the Aussie Government did because we have done very well it so far. Think it has been over a fortnight now with zero community transmissions which is sensational. We do have a much smaller population (around 27 mill) and we have a lot more space within our cities so it doesn’t feel like you’re living on top of each other. Hope the vaccine in the UK goes well mate. Were you impacted for work at all?
