Shooting,not shooter.
Kind of like 2 others in here that can only use copy and paste. 95% of their posts are not their own thoughts. Not so much of a discussion forum, eh? I guess that's what dems do best, steal from others, use others words as their own and regurgitate crap they see else where and try to claim as their own.

Not just republicans of course, as everybody has to do their part in all states. Although republicans, generalling speaking, do seem to block many attempts at lessening gun violence and killings of innocent people (non gangs)
This is all too sad to comprehend, just two weeks after Buffalo, Chicago, SanBernardino, and more

*You're
I won't comment like some others because I have 0 information about the situation. So, instead of being a fool and making assumptions like some people will, I'll wait to hear more info.
OP is claiming it's the republicans fault. So I am assuming he's a dem and jumping to assumptions or strictly looking to pin this on republicans. It's like the left is salivating at these situations just to further their political agenda. After all, this is a politics forum. The first 3 posts are attacking republicans like it's strictly their fault. You see how this works?

Key difference between US and other countries is that US has more guns and weaker gun laws. As a result, US is the mass shooting capital of the world. More gun deaths are a predictable outcome of lack of political will to change and an under investment in prevention approaches that work in other countries. There are many things that might reduce risk. For examples, less racism, better parenting, good education and more job opportunities. But the most cost effective intervention is gun control.

I do have an opinion about it. It's horrible. I don't have an answer on how to fix the problem. You can easily say "take away the guns and that will fix it" but honestly, that mentality is fantasy land. Do you think criminals are going to volunteer to hand over their guns? If I recall, most gun incidents are caused from criminals, correct? But you won't ever talk about that or the sky rocketing crimes being committed year after year. I have my questions about this specific situation, where did this 18 year get the gun, what were his motivations, what set him off to do this today? These situations are a lot more complex than "get rid of guns and that will fix the problems in this country". I am all for stronger background checks, and making it more difficult to obtain firearms. I've never thought someone needs an AR for protection, but at the same time, I'm not going to take away their rights to have one if it's in the laws. While guns contribute to these issues, it's also people using the weapon and there's something inherently wrong with these people. 99.9999% of legal gun owners are not committing these crimes. .0001% are (we don't know if this kid bought this gun legally, or stole it, unless the news has already broke about how he gained access). So while you may think it's the guns fault because that was the tool, I tend to think it's more of peoples fault, not dems, not republicans, but people and their surroundings and upbringing that brought them to this mental state to commit these horrendous acts.

National rifle association likes to promote that myth. Actually, research found which people are most likely to stop mass shooters. First, the shooter himself. Secondly, police. Third, people without a gun. Fourth, the good guy with a gun. Reality is different from movies.

Perhaps look around in the global system. Other countries seem to be countering gun violence just fine. Maybe explore some of the gun laws in Canada to come up with some solutions.
This really does not need to be that complicated.

It's possible to look at that, but Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. Maybe there is some element of their gun restrictions that we could use. Some of those countries have mass stabbings, but for some reason knifes are vilified like guns. Ultimately it comes down to holding people accountable. I feel if punishments fit the crimes, people might be more hesitant to commit them. These shooters sometimes want to die. In inner cities they have very little value for life and it's seen as street credit to go to prison. If you murder someone you got put to death, there might be less murder. But you have too many bleeding hearts out there.

Yes. 18 children murdered. Very sad. Plus 2 adults. Total is 20......... so far.
FBI reporting this is the 30th shooting at a K-12 school just this year.
212 mass shootings so far in 2022 in only 144 days.
Disgraceful.

Unfortunately you can't outlaw idiots, there will always be an ample supply of those. But you can try and not give an idiot who wants to die,a means to kill as many people or kids as they want, before they go.

Well I obviously with the last sentence understand someone dead can't be held accountable. I was speaking more obviously about areas like Chicago as I mentioned above have usually double digit homicides a week from guns, yet the only guns Democrats want to discuss is when one of these looneys shoot people. I am sure more than a few were crossing their fingers this guy was white. Until we get serious about all guns/crime and stop excusing it, we will just keep pulling at the opposite ends of the same rope.

Absolutely right, Deezy.
The #1 rated country in the world has very strict gun laws - NATION WIDE - and only 1/7 th the gun violence per capita! They are OBVIOUSLY doing something far better than we are. Not perfect, but certainly waaaaaaaaaayyyy better! Whereas in the US it is virtually irrelevant how strict a city or state makes its own gun laws since the criminal element simply brings in the weapons and/or killers from out of state. This is not the case in Canada.
