Using a cross cut and adze to mill his boards. I imagine it would be more like what you are saying. The LDS church is kind of the same way, without the history in the trades that the Amish have. You go through Utah though, and you'll see a 14 year old roofing.

They're almost cornering the inner city market here on roofing, plumbing ,electric, general home improvements....This after establishing themselves out in the burbs ..
They send the kids to the city jobs...Very common to see an entire village of 12-16 yr old roofing or doing demo work..
They also participate in sports now...Have 3 teams in local soccer leagues , and 1 kids team in the most Hood Basketball league ..

Miami Ohio is probably the deserving chalk in the East , but the Golden Flashes should be right there...Schlee got a little burn ar qb last year and looked pretty good ( Love the Sean Lewis ultra fast offense , think Schlee should be one of the best dual threats in the country ) Dustin Crum was solid but his fakes in the zone read option looked Ike he was moving in slow motion...
Very deep at RB and WR with plenty of production coming back...
The defense was absolutely atrocious last season and they still made it to the championship game ...They can only be better by addition through subtraction??
I'd highly recommend Bowling Green if you can still get +10000 !!!
