I've been here but don't post much. You were one of the guys I'd look to. Start betting extremely small or not at all. Your life is more valuable than a single bet. If you lost that much because of gambling then it might be time to say let's do something about this. Don't think less of yourself. You're human. Just walk the narrow line and keep your head up.

Maybe a lesson for others. Gambling is an addictive and destructive habit but it's become a part of my daily routine and life. I just hope my addiction doesn't get to THIS level..

Means you need to take a break for a while and find a better work/life/gambling balance.... you enjoyed sports betting at one time... maybe your limits are too high... maybe your sacrificing too much time away from family and friends.... it should be viewed as a hobby and a possible side income if your good a picking right. Only a few will ever make a full time decent living through it... and those people are probably single and have all the time in the world at their disposal.

"You never know what worse luck you bad luck has saved you from." Cormac McCarthy. Think about it. Point is, there are many worse addictions than sports betting. People get addicted to all kinds of things; we have become a society of addicts. Look at all the folks addicted to their phones, sucking on cigarettes, pouring poison down their throats, injecting chemicals in their bodies, going to casinos to sit for hours on end and put money in a gaudy flashing machine. You name it, we're addicted to it. Sex, yep, we're addicted to that too. And oil, our worst addiction, the one that's hooked all of us, yet nobody wants to say we're not addicted to.
The first step to overcoming an addiction is to acknowledge it. You seem to have done that. Try to understand, really understand, how big of a fool and a sucker you are for laying 10% on a sports bet. No gambler in their right mind would give up 10%. Outside of the Big 6 wheel and maybe Caribbean Stud, there's not a table game in the casino where you give up that kind of odds. None, yet sports bettors do it every play! Acknowledging this one fact has helped me immensely to get a handle on sports betting. Think about it and all the best,

thank you for your post and sharing what a lot of us went / go through . You need to quit forever. I know it is way easier said than done but gambling is a nasty addiction. I am an alcoholic , hard core . Yet I have not drank in 19 years.
I have found quitting gambling way harder. I a have my gambling under control now and do not bet large amounts like I used to. Could I quit gambling ? Maybe , but it would be extremely hard for me . Walk away and don’t look back if you can.

I have no interest in watching a sporting event without a bet on the game. Gambling is a long term losing proposition. Statistically, you are supposed to lose in the long run. It's possible to "win" at sports betting long term but the odds are against you. The problem is gambling for entertainment vs gambling to get "rich". You will never win enough and it will take over your life.

This is not the place to discuss this- at best you’ll get bad advice and at worst you’ll get trolls. Look for gambling addiction help in the proper avenues- support groups, therapy, etc.
And I completely disagree with just “betting small,” that won’t work, you don’t cure gambling with more gambling.

Yes I Know. After 15 years of gambling myself. But if you realize you can’t gamble with success. The last option would be a set bankroll and do max 5 %. Discipline comes after you hit rock bottom.

@FSerpico 95% of sports bettors lose and 5% are sharp winning sports bettors. Everyone should only be betting what you can afford. Do $1 bets in the first years of sports betting is what I recommend. For everyone $1 you bet on sports the other $1 should be invested in stocks and Bitcoin for long term. You don't withdraw or sell any stocks or Bitcoin for at least 5 years. Gambling is short term, investing is long term. High IQ people understand delay gratification and patience. Low IQ people have short attention span and gamble everyday for the high like a drug.
Do you like Bitcoin long term
