    i dunno, man. it's a chicago thing i guess. i put ketchup on my dog, but some joints have signs saying we dont have ketchup. the mcdonald's across the street from gene and jude's charges for their ketchup from all the traffic they get from gene and jude's.

    Let me interpret this.  Undermysac went to Glenbard East.  This is a consolidated school district in a suburb of Chicago.  It consists of the cities of Glen Ellyn and Lombard.  The housing prices got so high in Chicago along with the failing public schools and the high cost of Catholic schools, white flight took place.

    When the Chicago white flight took place, they brought their Chicago style hot dog stands with them.  Why?  Because people loved them and they made money.

    P.S.  I dated a girl at NIU from Villa Park.  She had a cute anagram (?) for her hometown.  Krap Alliv(e).

    When I was a freshman at NIU, there was a wheeled hot dog cart outside the bars.  3 Chicago dogs for $1.00!!!  I had supper there a lot!!!  It was 1981, but still an incredible deal!  You could buy a case of Stroh's 16 oz'er for $4.  Or Rhinelander and Wisconsin Club for $4.  If you had $10 on you, you had a really nice weekend.  Those were the days my friends.

    Come to the best coast and I'll introduce you to SoCal street dogs. Bacon wrapped hot dogs with grilled peppers and onions. (Mayo, ketchup, and mustard optional) Obviously not traditional. Just realize that your be taking advice from someone who likes ketchup (along with mustard and onions) on the more traditional dogs. cool

    @iConsciousness

     Bacon and fried onions & peppers... that sounds like an entree.

    Would you put Mayo on your bologna? Would you put katsup on your bologna? When you get down to it there isn't a dimes worth of difference between Oscar Meyer and Sabrett. Same lips,ears,utters, and Anus.

    This thread seems to have gotten a lot of traction!

    I’ma gonna talk to you like my kids.

    In my college days, nobody had any money except for the cakeaters from Wilmette or Winnetka.  Despite our lack of money, we would team up the Russo Brothers out of Bensenville, I believe that’s the suburb next to Ohare airport.  Gus and Phil.  Phil was like a 7th year senior.  Gus was a bigmouth, streetwise, chubby mess of a student.

    They would stake out McDonalds and Sparta’s Gyros.  They knew they would be putting the food they didn’t sell in the dumpsters at closing time.  They would then “dumpster dive” and retrieve all the edible food and bring it back to the kegger parties after closing!

    Im sure that pissed a lot of the bums off!

    @Cranky_Hank

    Here's a little known fact about Bensenville...

    In the movie Casino, where the Santoro brothers were killed and buried alive in a corn field was based on a true story.

    The Spilotro brothers in real life were taken to somewhere in Bensenville and murdered.

    Sad but true

    although Joe Pesci is about the same size as a baseball he doesn’t quite move as quickly so not that impressive
