Their self worth is based on the results of their teams.

that game meant 20 x more to the average canadian than to the average american.... canada can reign supreme in hockey and curling.. just like america would reign supreme in basketball and football and to a lesser extent baseball....

Same difference.

The beauty of the Americans opinions of the US gold is now that they have lost it, they can just shrug it off... however if Canada lost that game, we wouldn't hear the end of how pathetic we are.

Getting the reaction I thought. Canadians getting all bent out of shape.

If the US wins that game it's front page news on Monday and on Tue NBA, college hoops, and MLB training camp is back on front page.

Same as when Kentucky gets bounced in the tournament. The world will end for them and they will criticize the team for weeks. Their lives will be miserable.

Two cultures whose self worth depends on their team winning or losing and get all up in arms if you criticize anything about them.
