I rarely cook, but tonight I'm making shrimp scampi.
Fresh garlic plus the right imported olive oil is the key.
Can never have enough fresh garlic

nope....let me know when airplanes can fly on batteries......not to mention oil at 90$ a barrel almost and heading to 100.....all this money poured into leftist ''green energy'' has left the oil and gas industry way behind on infrastructure and can not meet the demand, hence the high oil price.....for example, our great president cancelling the keystone pipeline on day one was a terrible move......you may not like trump, im not a huge fan but his policies for the oil and gas industry made us energy independant with lower prices and the united states was a net EXPORTER of energy for the first time ........and electric ca batteries have to have a much longer life for the average person to buy one along with the price coming down.......you need car batteries that can go 1000-2000 miles on a single charge.....musk himself said that is still years away

It can't take off, as long as it's being held off, by the fossil fuel industry. Any new industry needs to be incentivized by governments, for it to grow and be sustainable, which hasn't been the case, because the fossil fuel industry keeps bribing politicians around the world. The saddest part of this whole situation is that the whole planet will suffer, so a bunch of rich piece of shit can make even more money.
Fe we are now in the biggest energy crisis in the last 40-50 years, not because there is a problem with production, but because the biggest oil and gas production countries wont increase their production, thus hiking up the price, like Russia is doing it with Europe this winter.
There are solutions out there, but greed and corruption stand in the way...

@montepire
Correct. Governments know that energy = power. Doesn't matter what provides it. They'll be happy to appease petroleum interests while subsidizing alternative means as long as the energy grid remains constant and predictable.

They are not subsidized at the level needed, for them to be competitive with the fossil fuel industry, which btw is also subsidized by the governments. My point was about the whole globe, not USA, considering China and India are burning so much coal, especially China, with no clear timeline from them when they will make the switch.
A global problem needs a global solution, fe Scotland makes twice the electricity it needs, all through green energy, but it doesn't mean much in the bigger picture, as long as the biggest countries continue to burn fossil fuels and coal.
I'm more familiar with Europe, so Germany has a big pipeline from Russia which will be up and running soon, because recently they shut down half of their nuclear reactors, which were safe and provided clean energy, as opposed to the gas they will be burning thanks to that pipeline.

i could go on about this all nite, i wont.......although you just made one of my points for me......you correctly mention china and india being the biggest polluters in the world and always will be....hence all of this green energy and things like the paris accord are just about worthless because these 2 countries and others are never going to be made accountable or willing to reign in their polluting........

The hottest and coldest periods on Earth all occurred before man ever existed. (climate.gov)
Earth’s hottest periods—the Hadean, the late Neoproterozoic, the Cretaceous Hot Greenhouse, the PETM—occurred before humans existed. Those ancient climates would have been like nothing our species has ever seen.

and lets keep in mind when we say subsidized by the fed govt what that really means is subsidized by us, the taxpayer.......none of these alt energy corps should be subsidized, if it is a product that people like and can afford the free market will do its thing in whether the company survives or not....

How was the scampi? One of my favorite simple home cooked meals. Fresh shrimp, olive oil, wine, garlic, lemon, and fresh herbs over any long pasta.
