So climate change isn't real? What you said is factual, but a false equivalence, hence a logical fallacy.
The current path we are on is man made, because it was humanity who released all that CO2 in the atmosphere, by burning coal and fossil fuels, every other era you mentioned was because of a natural occurrence, in the planets life cycle. This current situation has been artificially made, by humanity, and we already see the consequences, but the good part is fossil fuel and coal are a limited resource, so one day they will run out, it remains to be seen, not by us though, by future generations though.
@montepire
You need subsidies, because these are new technologies and we need them, that's why you need government to intervene, otherwise the free market would've buried these technologies and kept on with the fossil fuel industry.

@Hugh_Jorgan How was the scampi? One of my favorite simple home cooked meals. Fresh shrimp, olive oil, wine, garlic, lemon, and fresh herbs over any long pasta.
I nailed it! Made it as you said, but without the wine. Had it over linguine.
Also had some nice garlic bread, which is best made with day old italian or french bread.
Was one of my better efforts

@undermysac It can't take off, as long as it's being held off, by the fossil fuel industry. Any new industry needs to be incentivized by governments, for it to grow and be sustainable, which hasn't been the case, because the fossil fuel industry keeps bribing politicians around the world. The saddest part of this whole situation is that the whole planet will suffer, so a bunch of rich piece of shit can make even more money. Fe we are now in the biggest energy crisis in the last 40-50 years, not because there is a problem with production, but because the biggest oil and gas production countries wont increase their production, thus hiking up the price, like Russia is doing it with Europe this winter. There are solutions out there, but greed and corruption stand in the way...
In time most power will indeed be electric, there is no doubt about it and the sooner we get there the earth will be better off. It really does not take a lot of foresight or intelligence to understand.

and lets keep in mind when we say subsidized by the fed govt what that really means is subsidized by us, the taxpayer.......none of these alt energy corps should be subsidized, if it is a product that people like and can afford the free market will do its thing in whether the company survives or not....
it does not help when the powers that be and controlling interests will stop at nothing to derail it.

@yaongingy The hottest and coldest periods on Earth all occurred before man ever existed. (climate.gov) Earth’s hottest periods—the Hadean, the late Neoproterozoic, the Cretaceous Hot Greenhouse, the PETM—occurred before humans existed. Those ancient climates would have been like nothing our species has ever seen.
and lets just say that signs pointed to our existence contributing to something similar wouldn't it be wise to address said factors.

Fine by me, I'll just add this: subsidies are used in all industries, they are incentives for investors to put their money in those said industries. When it comes to new technologies, you need bigger subsidies, at fist, in order to make them sustainable and ultimately affordable, these are 2 of the most important aspects. If you leave it to the free market, well then we would just burn fossil fuel and coal until we would exhaust those resources, because all the market cares for is profits.
