I grew up in West Oakland where there are a ton of old houses. The house I spend most of my childhood in had a bidet in one of the bathrooms. It was nothing but a water element for my action figures. Maybe designs have changed in the last 100 years but the thing just doesn't seem like a replacement for TP. Now if you wanted to go TP, bidet, TP for dry up, that would be optimal.

Baby wipes FTW.   Any brand as long as they are non-flushable and 99% water.   TP will feel like sandpaper in comparison afterwards.

A bidet is nothing but a bathroom stall drink fountain.I use gas-station blue paper towels that you use to check your oil because they get soaking wet and still hold together and you can't beat the price...(free).

I find the wipes smear less

I prefer leaves, because that means I'm in the woods killing critters to fill my freezer.

For my money, the best strategy is: a dump, a simple wipe, followed by a shower.
