Actually makes a lot of sense... if we really wanted to eliminate deaths we would ban the automobile.
This is too extreme! 10 mph speed limit should do it.

Where testing is taking place, hospitals are packed.
If you did not meet the narrow CDC requirements for testing, you couldn't receive a test. Those requirements were recently changed but were not announced to the general public. More people will now be able to be tested as a result of the changes, Those without insurance will continue to stay at home and die.
Facebook & twitter posts are pushing the conspiracy theory of empty hospitals. Some beds have become available but will quickly be filled again when cancelled surgeries are rescheduled. Other hospitals have cancelled surgeries in anticipation of more covid patients being identified.
On a positive side, there have been less accidents because people are not travelling as much which has allowed some hospitals a much needed breather. However the more testing that takes place, the more positive results will be identified.
Any empty beds is a temporary situation as this virus appears in waves and affects communities of all sizes.

Rhetorical? Obviously, we have determined this is the mix that we can leave with. 160 mph would kill too many; 10 mph would cost too much in time etc. This is the balance we have decided to live with.
Of course, the numbers were over exaggerated for the expectations at the hospitals. But in their defense it does add on top of flu season etc. And with the peak of Corona all bunched up it could have been a legitimate concern.

If you remove NYC and nursing homes, there haven’t been many deaths.
Why did NYC do such a horrific job? Statistically, nobody in the world, including 3rd world countries, did a worse job.
Why is that?

Yeah, NYC royally screwed up in their handling of the Chinese Virus. They reacted too slowly AND had the misfortune of having the busiest public transportation system in the country. That's a bad combination.
On an unrelated note, about 1/4 of the u.s. deaths have been in nursing homes.

They’re policing healthy people at parks and beaches. No golf!
Quarantine Karens say we should wear a mask while walking in the woods!
How stupid are these people!?

Why the fuck would I be the one to explain what the "endgame" is?

First of all, no one visits Phoenix.
Secondly, Phoenix has 1.6 million residents & NYC has 8.7.
Lastly, who wants to live in a desert?

When the virus started spreading in March, Italy was bad and NY soon followed.
I just tried connecting the dots to come up with theories...their are lots of Italians in NY. Italians are close by nature. Hugs, kisses and handshakes are common. Even men greet each other with kisses on the cheek.
Just something that crossed my mind then. Not sure if it's the sole reason, but maybe there's something to it.

According to the Washington Post:
9 people under 20
45 people in their 20’s
190 people in their 30’s
413 people in their 40’s
The CDC found SEVEN people under the age of 50 that were hospitalized from COVID-19 and had no outside health problems.

59,000 Americans are dead.
We’ve lost another 2,400 today alone.
The US now accounts for 27.2% of worldwide deaths.
We are just 4.2% of the population.
There is no GOP or Fox News spin to make this loss any more palatable or remotely acceptable. Tiny hands covered in blood.

Some quotes I saw:
“Actually, when looked at as a whole, there is statistically no difference between this year's over all mortality rate and the average mortality rate of the past five years. But that still makes your question (where did all these OTHER causes of death go to?) valid. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE OTHER CAUSES OF DEATH THIS YEAR?? OR - have we over-emphasized the cause of deaths with the Wuhan flu in order to exaggerate the 'PANdemIC?'
This has been a political disease, not a medical one. And I think that needs to get as much coverage as possible especially when we see who has been taking advantage of it (look at where the more extreme closures and 'police state' attitudes are located, ahem!).”

“When you take covid1984 epicenters NY, NJ, New Orleans you get even more stark drops in "other" death totals. They are classifying any deaths with symptoms similar to covid to be exclusively covide even without testing positive. they are also not including comorbidities as causes of death even though 99% of those deaths have preexisting conditions.
If a rotted tree falls during a storm, did the wind kill it or just knock it down?”

“Heck, NYC is counting a death as a COVID1984 death if the decedent knew someone who had a friend who heard that someone had a relative that died from the flu.
· And now, the truth of the over reporting of Covid deaths is coming out. For every patient diagnosed with Covid, Medicare/aid kicks an extra 20% in fees to the hospital. If said patient is put on a ventilator, it is a 30% additional upkick in fees. The $39k fee for Covid patients going to hospitals has been verified as true, coming from Medicare/aid. Further, the proof of Covid deaths being inflated is also coming out as we hear about people dying of drug OD's, or from head injuries from a fall, etc. We are being lied to, oppressed by the career ruling class, and inexorably being pushed into socialist tyranny. When are the American people going to wake the up?”

“Every point is this article is factually and provably correct, although I would refine one point. Since April, when the CDC revised their guidance on how to capture the number of COVID deaths, with language directing those who test positive as well as those assumed, the US has been nearly 1/3rd of all deaths world-wide. How in the world does the US, with 4.7% of the world's population, account for 32.1% of the world's deaths from COVID?
How about - they're "juicing" the numbers to try and avoid looking worse than they already look, as we take a sledgehammer to our economy and the medical experts implore us to continue under house arrest.
More than a year ago, as I discussed the upcoming presidential election, I said that if the economy continued humming along, Trump was reelected, regardless of Russia / Russia! or a bit later, Ukraine / Ukraine!. Then, conveniently, COVID appears on the radar screen, Fauxi and Brix convince Trump that millions will die if we don't place the nation under house arrest, and he, unfortunately, listened to them.”

“Well, the data has clearly demonstrated this is not the end of the world, no where near the Hong Kong flu of 1968 (110,000 deaths in US), or the Asian flu of 1957 (100,000 deaths), but we still continue to tear down the pillars of our society. Insane.
I was a freshman in college in 1968-69 and, until recently, I was not aware of the Hong Kong flu pandemic. No social distancing, no shutdowns, no the-sky-is-falling talk of pandemics. My friends and I spent a lot of time in crowded bars, went to parties and football games. I did avoid libraries and, as a result, my GPA was in the C- range at the end of the year.
Today, my city, Durham, NC is locked down. I don't know a single person who has contracted the disease. In the entire state of North Carolina, there have been 330 reported deaths out of a population of 10,500,000. Over a third of those deaths occurred in nursing homes. These aren't exactly bubonic plague numbers.”

"..the rate of death for all people ages 18 to 45 is 0.01 percent"- I think we should start using the COVID deaths per all people, not just those who get infected.
For example: a bad flu season kills 80,000 out of a population of 320 million. That's 0.00025. With that death rate, half the population is too lazy to even bother getting a flu shot. Jump up to 0.00075 (three times as bad for COVID maybe) and we voluntarily destroy our economy and send people into food lines. Where's the logical leap from "won't even get a flu shot" to this? Statically similar.
Reminds me of when me and a co-worker were discussing the ridiculous odds of winning the Power Ball lottery. He said, "that's why you always buy two ticket, cheapest way to double your chances".

US deaths from all causes in weeks 7 through 13 in 2020 compared with average deaths from all causes in weeks 7 through 13 from 2014 through 2019 in (parens).
Week 7 - 55,981 (57,033)
Week 8 - 55,494 (56,300)
Week 9 - 54,834 (55,848)
Week 10 - 54,157 (56,160)
Week 11 - 52,198 (55,395)
Week 12 - 51,602 (55,035)
Week 13 - 52,285 (54,212)
Every one of those weeks - 2020 deaths below and in many cases significantly below the average.
In the US, the leading causes of death are heart disease (roughly 23% of all deaths) and cancer (roughly 21% of all deaths). Are these deaths suddenly not happening in 2020?
We know more now that we did in Week 7. The numbers don't appear to support a complete lockdown and trashing of the economy anymore. Perhaps wait one more week in the harder hit areas like New York City, implement policies to protect nursing homes, then open it up and let's get back to business.
