That Turkey game was great - fortunate to win but what a thriller.
A strange possibility is in the works. The deal is the Czechs and the Turks both sit on 3 points, have 2 goals scored each, and 3 against. What happens if they tie their last game? They will be identical on every tiebreaker. The answer is that if the two teams in question are playing each other on the last day - they go to penalties to advance. So you might see a first - if the Czechs and Turks draw - there will be a shootout to see who advances. If the two teams in question do not play each other on the last day, they go to some ridiculous formula that takes in to effect their qualifying games.
For tomorrow - I have a big play in store - just trying to get it in. Once I do, I will post here.

Just to clarify what happens if the Czechs and Turkey tie on Sunday is that they will take penalty kicks WITHOUT the two 15-minute extra-time periods which is customary in the knock-out stage of a soccer tournament. I'd have to agree that penalty kicks after only 90 minutes probably is a first.
Portugal clinched first place regardless of what happens in the Group A games on Sunday, so expect alot of the top Portuguese players to rest while the Swiss will likely still play hard for national pride and to give their departing manager a victory in his final match.

The first game has the Germans against Croatia. Yesterday taught me something. I do think they are overpriced today, and thought long and hard about Croatia, but like Portugal yesterday there is one difference between the elite teams and the others - they FINISH. When Portugal has a chance, they take it and take it well, and score at a higher percentage than other teams. The Germans and the Spanish are the same. I do think Croatia will give them a game today and would love to bet them, but I can see Germany finishing their chances while Croatia doesnt, and we have Portugal / Czech all over again. Im not going to bet against Portugal, Germany, or Spain in the first round - and that makes this a no bet for me - the first one of the tourney I will just watch. But I think it will be an evenly played game.
The second game for me is a very big one. Once again we have the host team in over their heads. I will have equal to my biggest wager of the tourney on Poland at PK (draw I push), I have dripped in at -140, -144, -150, and -152. The first game Austria played set up perfectly for this one - Croatia got the early goal and then just defended the rest of the game - and it made Austria look good. Same with Poland - they played the Germans and really didnt look too bad - but were outmatched. There is just a clear class difference between these two sides - and this is an absolute must win situation. I just cant see the Poles getting beat today. Anything can happen, but if they can avoid giving up an early goal I think they will win comfortably. Prediction - Poland 2 Austria 0.

When they score, they act like they have done it before- like they EXPECT to score, and not like a miracle just happened. They are the class of the tourney, I believe. On the Poles as well. I agree. But one comment:
The guy who scored both goals for Germany (Podolski) was born in Poland and has family there, so he made a conscious decision not to celebrate out of respect to Poland when he scored.
You will see celebrations if they score today......

I can't bring myself to bet on soccer simply because I was never introduced or exposed to the sport at a young enough age to gain much of an interest other than wanting to play soccer instead of dancing in elementary Phys. Ed. classes.
Anyway, I know nothing about the sport, but I recognize when someone has an acumen for it, and you certainly do.
