WOW. Hot take of all hot takes: Football is entertainment. Well dayyyummm!!! Who woulda figured that, huh???
I mean TV cameras everywhere...awards shows each year...gazillions in merchandise. Let's wait for it...wait...wait...here comes Chic-C with his reference to Rome, the Coliseum, and the gladiators and how it helped the Roman people forget for a while about their plight and crumbling empire. Fact is, it was entertainment then and it's entertainment now. That's why we watch. Oh, and here's something Chic forgot to mention while proclaiming from the mountain top the Pete Gent quote that he thinks slams the door shut on the debate about whatever he's debating. Here's the line from Gent's novel:
"The coach is focused on player 'tendencies', a quantitative measurement of their performance, and seems less concerned about the human aspect of the game and the players. One player, Shaddock, finally erupts to assistant Coach Johnson: 'Every time I call it a game, you call it a business. And every time I call it a business, you call it a game.' The coaches manipulate Elliott to convince a younger, injured rookie on the team to start using painkillers."
So a Pete Gent interview where he says football is entertainment is hardly a "stop-the-presses" moment. It's not even a "hot take".
Going back to George Plimpton's "Paper Lion" in 1966, and the great Dan Jenkins and "Semi-Tough" in 1972 (NOT the Burt Reynolds Hollywood movie, the novel) - followed very closely by Pete Gent's "North Dallas Forty" in 1973...everybody BACK THEN and everybody in modern day America knows football is entertainment...that also happens to be a multi-billion dollar business.
Just like "America's Pastime". Even ML Baseball had it's own iconoclast in Jim Bouton and his 1970 novel "Ball Four" - "You spend your life gripping a baseball, and it turns out that it was the other way around all along."
Is Hollywood entertainment, or is it a business? YES. (Figure out what I just said there, C-C.) What did they call Kurt Warner and the St. Louis Cardinals..."The Greatest Show on Turf"!!!
Carry on, Chic-C and P33P. Beam me up, Scottie (not really Chic...just an expression).

Expect you conveniently (of course) missed the part where he said “if the public wants a winner we give them one if they want a loser we give them one”. You, seem to um, “forget” a lot of things that you can’t answer.

Except these are just videos of game film. That’s all. Society has never been such an obedient, unquestioning herd as it is now. It’s no wonder how the powers that be are able to make laws - so easily at that - that continue to take away our god given freedoms/rights.

It always comes out that the people who complain about football being rigged, are the same anti-government, anti-vax, anti-everything kind of people. Makes you wonder if they are just older guys who have seen life pass them by and now blame everyone and everything as the reason for them not making something more out of their lives.

@chic-cardinals Explain how your fixtard ideology inserts potential life altering neck and spinal injuries like last minute late in the game...is a player like him in on it and signed off on being part of the plot to sacrifice his body and future ability to walk? Or is he one of the innocent ones who isn't part of the script insiders in order to give the game an appearance of realism? If he's in on it, then that makes sense because them the game and the players have about 5 minutes of screen time to all act very religious and emotional to garden sympathetic feelings from the TV watchers...these rare 5 minutes within the script always attempt to re-humanize the players and the game to the fans who know they are criminals, bigots, racists, murders and wife beaters...this seems like the most plausible explanation...and i see these extreme injuries always happen on stand alone games in prime time. Please explain your knowledge about this to enlighten people from this planet, and why things are done differently on yours
Let's see each injury to decipher if it's real or not.
Real injuries make no difference. It happens in pro wrestling too.
If you don't question the bizarre perfect timing of this. There's something wrong with you.

Thirty-three years to the day after Washington quarterback Joe Theismann suffered his own gruesome leg injury, Smith suffered a spiral compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg on a sack by Texans safety Kareem Jackson at FedEx Field.

15320 hrs to the date of when Steve Nash got his nose busted in the playoffs while playing for the Suns, the exact same thing happened last season to Booker....the moment it happened, the camera moved away from the front row court area to allow for the following to happen:
...to show a well placed randomly chosen milf actress wearing a custom made t-shirt of a bloody nosed Nash...they had that shirt prepared the entire time...thus proving a fixtard analogy...see? I'm not your enemy here on this planet...I come in peace and want to explore your rigtard brain for science purposes here on our planet...you do come to this galaxy in peace, right?

Lol this beyond ridiculous. One has nothing to do with the other for anyone who the same views.
You're also assuming you know anything about the workings of govt and whether the vac is/isn't dangerous.
But that's off topic

Can’t believe this moron actually brought up injuries. It’s like talking to a retarded child:
“I’d it’s fixed how come they get hurt, dad?”
Well son, people get injured on the job. People even get injured making movies.
“Why would they do it then, dad?”
Because son, you have a much much greater chance of getting hurt working a labor job. On top of which those jobs pay you as low as .001% of what you would make playing football and at the very most 10, maybe even 15% of it.
“What’s a percent dad?
Son, let’s just say you’d make way less money if you didn’t play football or any pro sport than if you did… and you also get a shot at being world famous if you play professional football, where you can turn that potential fame into even more money. But son your potential for becoming a world famous bricklayer is somewhat limited.
“Oh. Do you think I’m retarded dad?”
No son. Don’t you ever say that! You’re special! Ok. Say it after me… I - am - special!

Smiling here, P33P...no I didn't forget it. But did Pete Gent ever "flesh out" that statement.
Did we ever see any press conferences? No, of course not...he was talking sports like all guys with big egos do...and he had a huge chip on his shoulder. I remember watching him, a good receiver but never a star.

Didn't you say you were done with this (post 133) and how you really don't care (post 130)? Yet you keep coming back. Hard to listen to someone who is a documented liar.

Oh so now it’s all based on your “perception” of what he said. So his actual quote being “of the public wants a winner/loser that’s what we give them” is subjective. You can’t make this up seriously.
Let’s see that else you got. Here’s a tweet that Jalen Ramsey made shortly after the Jaguars “lost” to the Pats in the 2017 season. He had to take it down and a subsequent punishment was handed down shortly after.
“Coach told us in the middle of the 4th to give the game to NE. We didn’t want to, but commissioner said it best for the league. Leaving it in god’s hands.”
Let’s see what you can make up to deflect this one.
