Im here in new Orleans it was very bad you guys..

Our country was not supposed to have professional politicians that held office for life. Because we do, we become the politicians and we shouldn’t. We can do better by voting their asses out, replacing them with ones for a TERM, and allowing them to go back to their lives after that term and electing new ones. politicians that serve us and our country.  

I have hope. This country is filled with such good people.  Sadly, there is so much hate that is misguided and ignorant.  Nearly all of us want the same thing deep down.  Hopefully there will soon be a catalyst where we begin respecting each other enough to listen to each other, stop the blaming, and start compromising.  

I have too much faith in the all the good of so many to believe we will fail.  

I don't like doing this, because it has the feel of kicking a drunk, homeless person in the teeth. However, your post has such an enthusiastic, self-righteousness to it that I cannot help but set the record straight. First, I agree with your first two sentences. Unfortunately, you embody every accusation you hurl at anonymous others in those sentences. You repeat a false rumor, started around 2016, that Fox News is listed as "an entertainment company." That is a lie. No such category exists in the American regulatory structure or anywhere else, except perhaps in the minds of haters who spread false "information." I'm really shocked that some previously credible posters on this site would congratulate you for a "Good Post." Perhaps they do that because they too are Fox News, MAGA haters. Nevertheless, you are wrong. And,you are a hater. Further, you are not the self-proclaimed "centrist" you claim to be. Every hater I know says things like "Sorry, I'm right in the middle." It gives them a self-anointed claim of fairness, entirely untrue, entirely self-serving and, most certainly, entirely undeserved.

Not bad Ken, you make some really valid points, most of which I agree with.  However you come across as being really pompous I must say. You have got it all figured out I see, so I suppose anyone would be a fool to argue  or debate with you.  You are willing to sit there and tell me that Fox News has never spread any misinformation, whether by their own hosts or repeating and agreeing with what others have said??    I am going to assume that you are calling me out (although I am not sure why anyone would have ever thought of me as "credible").   The thing is, I AM a hater of MAGA, with all my heart.  There are many reasons for this, and that is all an entirely different conversation.     and no, I am not "in the middle"  and have never claimed to be.

I've been there multiple times and it's fantastic. The last time was a few years ago for my buddies bachelor party. We booked the trip without realizing it was Jazz Fest week. It was magical.

Eating at a Bourbon Street restaurant (recommended by a $250/night hotel blocks in the hood) as rats come in and out of the wall 10ft away. 6 bucks for a bottle of water in the bars GMFB. The bartender actually apologized to me.

There isn't a more over rated meal in the entire world then jambalaya. Homeless in LA get better grub.

AIDS stricken hookers jumping out of every crevice and doorway in the neighborhoods with a tale tail of whoa as you come and go to your vehicle or hotel in the pitch black.

Whether you are with your wife or not, you gotta survive all the sex workers crawling all over you on the "Street". Then I get the pimps staring me down cuz I look like law enforcement to them and they are intimidated.

I love how they gotta "power wash" all the sidewalks down after every night.

All the stores just sell the usual frick frack direct from China.

 Honestly Train, I don't hate you at all...even though you call me a "stupid fuck".   I hate MAGA....and all of the "level-headed" people you speak of.  Trump, Gaetz, Greene, Boebert, Gosar, Kennedy, Gabbard, Hegseth, Carlson, Bannon, Abbott, Linda McMahon?!, Wright, OZ, Jordan, and the list goes on and on. Trump is stacking his administration with unqualified cronies whose characters stand in opposition to their agencies.  Trumps goal in nominating such freaks and strong-arming the Senate into approving of them is to pave the way for his own un-checked rule.

Have you ever heard of Erdogan?  My friends from Turkey have a lot to say of him and how Trump reminds them of him.  Those left in government must be slavishly obedient to his every whim, whether legal or not.  Something you might call an "illiberal democracy".   Politicize the courts, quiet the press, and reward favored oligarchs.  and perhaps create a "warrior board" of retired military officers to identify "woke generals" for sacking.    I suppose these ideas probably sound like a good idea to you.  

I'm only chiming in because this thread is near the top of the PB. First, I just want to point out that I'm not MAGA, nor being on the other side of the political aisle. (I'm registered as an Independent, and I would probably classify myself as a Thomas Massie/Ron Paul type of conservative (liberal in some ways, though). So I'm not going to ascribe to a viewpoint simply because this is what one side thinks over the other.

With what I've come across reading reports as posted on X/Twitter (uh, somewhat vetted, at this point), everything points to a psyop. Does anyone else thing similarly? Especially with what is going on in the Middle East right now.

If not, what is your reasoning for thinking it isn't?

 You are wrong on so many levels, my man. First, what you're right about. It is a dump. Like I said, i've been three times, the first time as a teen pre-Katrina. It is a dirty, dilapidated city. It catches you off guard at first. It's an old city by U.S. standards. And it's just showing its age. There are many European cities that you build up and make enchanting in your head just to get there and see that the place is actually ran down. Those cities are really old and just showing their scars. And while New Orleans isn't as old as those Euro cities, it shows it's age.

New Orleans has great food without the need to eat Jambalaya. We ate well this last time including a big dinner at a legit steakhouse. Seeing a rat is obviously off-putting and enough to spoil one's appetite but trust me, that's not the only restaurant you've eaten in with rats. Even really good food destinations have bad food. I've probably had as much bad BBQ in Texas as I have had good BBQ.

This last time was a bachelor party so there were like eight of us, all dudes. We weren't harassed by hookers or pimps. It was during Jazz fest so they probably operate differently but I wasn't harassed any of the other times either, all in different eras. I did get hit up my Mexicans selling blow every 30 seconds but I had my own. One of the homies bought some and it was actually decent. Even during a big tourist week, he wasn't overcharged and no fent. As a group, we were generally treated really well and shown a lot of love. Never charged $6 for water and drinks were always moderately priced. Cheap even. I was surpised.

As far as souvenirs, yeah, tourist traps sell chinese crap. I avoided those places and brought my wife back some really cool and meaningful stuff.

 Places are what you make it, and who you go with. Vegas if you don't gamble or party gets old fast. Vegas is also more fun as a guys trip than with the wife. New Orleans, if you're past the partying age, if you're with the wife, yeah, it can be overrated. Walk around look at old buildings and eat food. There's a whole scene though, underneath that touristy exterior. And the people are extremely nice and hospitable. And your experience not withstanding, there is some really good food. Every city is what you make it.
