Nebraska is ranked higher than AnM in kenpom slightly. Basically 3 pts better over 100 possessions which is a coin flip.
HOWEVER……. Nebraska shoots 36% from 3, 53% from 2, and 76% from FT line for ranks of 72, 82, and 51st nationally. On the other hand, AnM is the worst shooting team in the entire tourney with 28% from 3, 47% from 2, and 70% from FT for ranks of 352, 303, and 234th in nation. Wild they were as successful as they were this year with that horrific shooting. Diving deeper, AnM gets the majority of their pts from 2 and FT line but shoots very poorly as evidenced. Nebraska however has very low rates of FT allowance and fouling and allows teams to shoot from distance. Conversely, AnM gives up 40% of opponent pts from distance and packs it in. This game style plays perfectly into Nebraska hands with Tominaga and Williams in backcourt shooting daggers and Mast and crew inside out game and stretching the floor. They will get open looks all night long and AnM will be left to chase from behind, get desperate and launch 3s which is out of character and their weakness. Plus, if FTs are involved, buskers nail them and AnM doesn’t. Huskers win pretty comfortably
