Recap of my MLB handicap from earlier today:
This is purely a fade on Baltimore, getting a very short price to back the home team, who have so far exceeded expectations thus far. Despite all the off the field drama about record low attendance numbers for yesterday's A's home game, to the players this type of distraction really doesn't bother a true professional ball player. To them, it's all about their own mental and physical preparation to do their job at their best abilities, because at the end of the day, baseball is still an individual sport within a team setting. Weather their home crowd is 2000 or 20000, it really doesn't matter for a team like Oakland, where their glory days of the 70s and 90s are long gone. Plus, let's face it, Baltimore is terrible and on the road are even worse. They are the league leaders in strikeouts at the plate, and are currently a dead under team with respect to the total. This is game 4 of this series, and Baltimore has scored only 1 run in each of the 3 games. Oakland is not going to be a team that puts up major offensive numbers, but a straightforward 3-1 or 4-2 type win makes sense here, as Oakland will be looking to grab a 3-1 series win and move onwards to their weekend series. Baltimore will be just thinking about getting on their plane to the next stop of their pathetic season that seems hopeless already. What will it take for the O's to ever turn this around? Could Alex Anthopoulous be convinced to take on this project? That would be a miracle, right?
Best of luck to all A's backers!
