Season Record 224-208-2, +11.800 unitsTexas made it look easy yesterday which was nice.
LOUISVILLE +6 (2.75 UNITS) - As I mentioned in my Texas writeup, I think it is important not just to handicap both teams in a game like this but also to look at conferences. Yes, NC has looked invincible at times, but they really didn't have a killer schedule. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not saying they aren't one of the best teams in the country. They clearly are. However, the ACC was nowhere near as tough as it has been in the past.
Facts:
Only 5 ACC teams made this year's tournament, their lowest amount in years.
Not one ACC team lasted in the NIT or CBI. Certainly if the ACC was so strong this year, a team like Virginia Tech, Maryland, Virginia or Florida would've lasted to the NIT Final 4 or CBI Finals. However, they didn't. Virginia was eliminated by Bradley by double digits on their home court. Va. Tech was eliminated by nine points by Ole Miss on their home court. Florida State lost in the opening round at home to Akron. Maryland was beatn by double digits at Syracuse.
That brings me to my second point. What do Maryland, Clemson and Duke from the ACC also all have in common?
Their seasons were ended by Big East teams:
Maryland was beaten by Syracuse by 14.
Clemson was beaten by Villanova who barely got into the field of 64/65 with a 12 seed.
#2 seed Duke was beaten by #7 seed West Virginia.
Now we have the top team from the ACC laying 6 points on a neutral court to one of the top teams in the Big East, which I say is by fat the better conference.
Simply put, I think this is way too many points. Louisville has more depth and this should be an outstanding game. I am taking the +6.
