I like that he stood for his principles....
but I think he's a complete idiot for not getting vaccinated. to me the decision to get vaccinatinated or not was about as tough as deciding what shirt to wear golfing on Saturday.

@davemsh & @steponaduck
I agree with the termination...
Like Kyrie Irving, he is selfish and self centered...So he must suffer the consequences...
Getting vaccinated is for the greater good, for this players and staff and anyone with whom he interacts, and their elderly grandparents or their children or others who could be at risk. The bottom line is that he accepted a job as a state employee in a state that requires all state employees to follow state law, statutory or legislative sourced...I will assume he was fired for cause...Other than any negotiated severance, he has no bases for wrongful termination litigation and compensatory damages...but, he is welcome to try...
Sure, he will get another job as a coach...perhaps in a red state, in the south, where he can be as ignorant and self centered as he wants to be...Don't make this guy a martyr...

Im vaccinated. Im comfortable with my decision.
Anybody who doesnt want it... Im comfortable with that too.
What Im NOT comfortable with, is mandating anyone to do ANYTHING with their body or put anything into their body. Im uncomfortable with the shaming and the public pressure and the threatening of consequences simply for asking questions..... THOSE THINGS are very bad. We wont pay for them THIS time. But it sets a very bad precedent for later generations and THATS what makes me uncomfortable.

@GENERALWIZDOM
That's fine. In the end, no one forced him to get vaccinated under physical duress. However, no one can force a state institution to retain the employment of an employee who violates state law. It is a free country, but when one violates state law, there are consequences...Its not like they put him in jail until he complied, like some political prisoner. Its called employment at will, and everyone, with only a few rare exceptions must comply.
Can we get back to capping NCAAF week 8?

@LonghornHoosier
if you want to get a vaccine for something killing 2% of people that get it (and many of those are people with pre existing conditions), that's fine. but don't expect everyone to sign up for that.

He didn't violate any state law. There is no such state law in Washington. A governor's order, no legislative body needed anymore it seems.
This country is being divided like never before and it appears to be on purpose. Unvaccinated people are no danger to vaccinated people. Actually I suspect the vaccinated who have much more asymptomatic cases spread the virus unknowingly.
It's not one size fits all, never has been.

@Eddy_Winslow
that's just another baseless conspiracy theory...and you know it...remember the greater good...defeating this plague collectively and moving on with our lives is more important to me than whether some marginal coach at a marginal college football program retains his job or gets terminated...the faster we get vaccinated, the faster we move forward. and any of you folks who have received your vaccination should get your booster as soon as you are eligible...I look forward to selfishly tapping you for capping advice for years to come...

@Eddy_Winslow
So what's your point, and what does that have to do with the termination of the former Washington State Coach? I sincerely doubt one dies from the vaccine itself, but from conditions that pre-existed. Regardless, its worth the risk...

Plenty of job openings at Chuck E. Cheese. People who make the choice not to get vaccinated clog up the IR for those who have heart problems and cancer. And they drive up insurance rates for everyone. To paraphrase Longhornhoosier, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one. Rolovich is not entitled to a government paycheck.
