The author of Willy Wonka's widow told us so today.
How was he dissuaded from making him black?
His agent said...."Why?"
Well god forbid a little black boy get the golden ticket. People wouldn't get it! God forbid he have a black family where Grandpa Bucket, another worldwide classic favorite, be black as well.
God forbid even Willy Wonka himself be black...
Because....why???????
Ah yes, a cinematic classic might be in the dustbins of history if Charlie happened to be black...
But like Quaker Oat Meal, it would have been "The Right thing to do"....

Scal, you miss the boat on this one. This is one of those scenarios when I say you can't speak for black people. This is often misinterpreted as me saying a white man can't speak up for black peope. Or that a white man can't understand, or be sympathetic to a black man's plight. Or his struggle. And that's absolutely not true. What I do mean is that no matter how sympathetic, how much you've read, how "woke" you are, there are certain things you just can't understand about the black community. This brings me to Charlie. If Charlie were black, many in our community would be like, "See, another story of the white man saving the po' black child." It's 'Different Strokes', it's 'Webster'. It's 'The White Shadow'. If Willy Wonka is black we say, "See, another affable black man takin' care of massa's children." It's 'The Green Mile'. Now if Charlie AND Willy are black...now we're onto something! Hollywood would've never let that happen. It stops being 'The Wizard of Oz' and it becomes the 'Wiz'. Great movie but how many white people have seen it?

And before you guys jump all over Scal, he's making a point bigger than Charlie. The book agent says "Why?" to a black main character. The movie producer says "Why?" to a black main character. The GM says "Why?" to the black coach? The designer says "Why?" to the black model. Too many of those in power don't look to black people as viable options. Even though black people are huge consumers. It's because they know black people are more forgiving as consumers. Black people still went to see both film versions of "Charlie..." regardless of the character's race. White people wouldn't have necessarily went out to see the movies if "Charlie" is black. As far as the book goes, does it really matter? I read a lot, mostly non-fiction, but when I read fiction I almost never see race. "Moby Penis" had a black guy and a Polynesian. When the characters are introduced it's like, "Cool." After that, it's an after thought. I digress... Movies and books with black main characters are considered "black" movies. Movies and books with white main characters are considered "Everybody" movies. Is 'James Bond' a "white" movie. It doesn't have to be this way if producers, or literary agents, took more chances. Was 'Blade' a "black" movie? No. And white people went and saw it. I guess where Dahls agent asked "Why?" Scal is asking "Why not?" Still, this is a ridiculous thread.

That right there is the reason Charlie being black would have made no sense ... the entire family was living together
Scal, you need to get out of the basement every now and then.
You have managed to drag your level of patheticness to depths that are absurdly low, even for this site
Really? I guess it makes sense for whole white families to be living together seeing as how they are always boning each other. Charlies granddad was probably also his dad. His mom was his sister.

Also, the Oompa Loompas were brought over as slave labor. They were a simple yet peaceful race of people, simply minding their own business in Loompa Land, that is until Willy Wonka bought them from the Horn Swagglers, the Rotten Vermicious Kinids, and the Swangdoodles and forced them to work at his chocolate plantation.....
"What do you get from a Scal-A-Brine?
A pain in your A$$, and an I.Q. of '3'
This race-baiting crap needs to come to an end,
Or we will, or we will, BAN YOU FOR-EH-E-VER!!!"

You just can't seem to get me out of your head, can you?
An honest question for you ... when your wife is out of town for a few days ... yanno, "on business" ... do you rifle through her bags to see what type of frilly panties she has packed?

(I figure I can ask it here since this was a race-bating thread attempt by Scal).
If a fella like Stump or Double were to be boxed, would their avatars change to a black man in incarcerated in cuffs, or would it be the same White man?
I feel slightly offended that the Covers mods presume that I have the pasty white skin of my new avatar.
I have Olive skin; slightly brown to the White folks but light enough to be considered White among the Black folk.
I think this needs to be changed.
So to the Covers team, while you guys create new avatars for Black members, can you also include those with Latino or Mediterrean skin tone like myself?
I mean c'mon, could you imagine the fury of Scal if there was only a Black avatar of a man incarcerated and not one of a White man?
Just saying.....

Fella? That's racist! Honestly, I think that Avatar kind of looks like a douche bag from Jersey. (Not calling you a douche bag, Slobs) It kinda looks like a kid who got to drunk on spring break and did some dumb sh!t. Maybe he grabbed a titty or something. He's cuffed in the front. If he were black, he'd be cuffed behind.
p.s. If a fella like Stump gets locked up he's gonna be.....inside you. Definitely inside of somebody. Sabaneque?

It's always hilarious when you accuse me of stalking, while you spend your entire Covers life cyberstalking Scal.
You need to cut down on your onanism in your cell, it's sapping your energy and your responses are weak and uninspired.
Hey, can you appreciate the rhythm in my little poem? Sound out the words, it jives quite nicely.

Can't say that I never seen the movie. My 7th grade Health teacher put it on before the holiday break but it didn't hold my interest. I read The Fellowship of the Ring instead.
Same thing with "The Matrix" in my 11th Grade Computer Admin class.
As for the remake with Johnny Depp, I started watching the first 20 minutes of it and fell asleep.

BTW Stump, I'm watching the LMS episode of when Eve, Mike and Chuvk go to Ed's house to watch the Nuggets game but spend the entire time setting up Ed's 121" flat screen.
This episode has the best example of Mandy's hotness and the new Kristen's nastiness.
When Kristen is trying on wedding dresses, Mandy is smoking and is probably the hottest she's ever shot in the entire series in this scene.
Kristen, on the other hand, is wearing her wedding dress and you can see all those moles on her body (if you look for them). There are nude pics of Amanda Fuller on the web that show her mole clusters; gross!
I know you mentioned her in my "Tv Moms who you would do" thread so you will probably think again after seeing this, hahaha

"Penalty Box" guy in cuffs is white
but, the
"Banned" guy in shackles is black
so, draw your own conclusions on that one.....
