I could have cleanly gotten off of my Dodgers -130 series bet this morning by betting on the Padres +131 in tonight’s Game 5. But, I didn’t do that. Instead I decided to keep my series bet and then matched that amount with a bet on the Dodgers -1.5 +155. Officially a HUGE play.

Darvish this season when pitching on more than 4 days rest had an ERA of 1.91 (twelve starts).

 

Darvish this season when pitching on exactly 4 days rest had an ERA of 6.43 (four starts).

 

Tonight he’s pitching on 4 days rest.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered the five shutout innings I was hoping for, and he did it on only 63 pitches. I hope Dave Roberts lets him go out there for the 6th, but I doubt it because we know how Roberts manages in big games.

Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts are a huge disappointment so far tonight, a combined 0-6.

In the middle of the 6th inning I bet the Padres +1.5 -145 to reduce my risk on the Dodgers -1.5 +155 by 23% ($13,000 on the Dodgers -1.5 +155 and now $4,250 on the Padres +1.5 -145). 

I was hoping that Ohtani and Betts would quickly make me regret that move, but they didn’t. Ohtani struck out for the second time tonight and Betts quickly grounded out.

Four straight 1-2-3 innings by Yu Darvish. The Dodger lineup has put no pressure on him tonight. He’s been breezing, a virtual copy of his excellent start in Game 1.
