SoulGlo, I have never conversed with you, but I am sure you
are a good guy. I mean no disrespect in
any way, but CalBear posted a thread stated that you were the best handicapper
on Covers
on that thread I clearly pointed out how much of your
numbers are smoke and mirrors. Though I
don’t deny that you are a solid handicapper, I would be lying if I said I
thought we were in the same category, but you are solid. You specialize in negative lines, and have to
play for large amounts (posting $1500 a game?
Comon man) in order to make a
decent profit due to your only playing minimal games—very hard to avoid being
vulnerable during downswings.
Anyway, I would like to pose a challenge to you should you
accept—and I do strongly suggest you not accept. Once more, just being honest, thanks.
Here is what I propose:
3 plays a day (you play 2 a day normally, and I play 8, so
the comfort is in your corner, and totally fair for you)
We use 5 Dimes lines—that is the most popular site among
Covers subscribers.
We alternate stating plays, and the second person that day
cannot duplicate a play the 1st person played.
We play ONLY +120 lines or better (better meaning +119 is not
allowed)
14 consistent days of this competition
No play denominations necessary, whoever cashed the most
plays of 28 wins
I do hope you accept, but completely expect you won’t (or
you’ll lose the smoke and mirrors).
Either way, BOL to you

If he's smart to make only 2 picks and win them every single day.. he is the best... who would make eight picks just for fun.. or when money is on the line... outlandish

With respect, I read the forums almost every single day. I'm interested in the thoughts and picks of many posters. I dont post often for many reasons, but I respect those like yourself, key, tin fouls, weeble, and every other daily poster in here. It's some serious dedication to post picks on a free forum daily for others to follow and thank when winning, and take critism for losing.
Is this a friendly bet? Gentle mans bet per say, or you willing to put skin in the game?
Every game is risky, rosters about to change, why limit to dogs 120 and greater?
Why can't the same teams be picked? Nobody should be limited to chance based on one day offering 'better' options than the next.
With that said, I'm ot soulglo, but I would accept the challenge if there were less flaws in your proposal....
Denominations don't matter. I see guys like jopesci posting large sums and above you questions 1500 a game. I'm a 100-500 bettor, and occasionally like the parlays that most frown upon. The majority of people on here are fake anyway, trying to be cool...
if soulglodoes not accept, Maybe someone else would be interested

My proposal would be start with 'X dollars.' Put a range per day on the number of plays. See who has the most dollars after a given time period.
I agree with statements above though. You are already well respected as a capper by many folks on here. Who cares if someone else thinks you aren't the best. This garbage is swingy anyway.

I have never seen anything more stupid in my life than the original post. Grow up. There's more to life than proving who is the best capper. We're all here to make money, so help each other out. God forbid someone should be making money and picking well that another decent capper is offended by this.
What a joke

Soulglo is new here, post his picks, keeps an honest record, does very well so far, doesn't brag, boast or bump his threads, doesn't engage in pointless bullshitt, and you feel the need to "challenge" him to a duel?

I have followed your plays for years, I mean this is the nicest way possible and the last thing I want to do is piss you off, with that said in my 20 years of watching guys try and pick these games, you may be the worst I have ever seen.. again no disrespect.

The rules are flawed. A capper shouldn't have to dig out secondary teams when the 3 best have already been chosen. Just my opinion. A play of the day is what it is, why pass on it just because it's already been chosen.

You are both exceptional MLB handicappers - both having earned significant $$$$ on your wagers. Kudos to both. There is nothing to prove and frankly Soul is +19K, you are +8K - a friendly competition is about egos - Soul has already demonstrated superiority where it matters.

So, basically....
'You're full of sht, I mean I respect you but you're nowhere near as good as me, and because someone else said you are good I'm here to prove to YOU that you're NOT IN MY LEAGUE..and I'll understand why you won't want any piece of this...and I'm doing this all cos someone else said you are good, not because you ever claimed anything about yourself or me'
Yeah, sure sounds like a 'friendly' challenge.

By the way, this is the most ridiculous rule I've ever seen. You're not going to keep picking the same picks every single day, so this rule 'corrects' nothing. Secondly, if you want to truly measure who has the best accuracy, who finds the BEST plays each day, you should be measuring that on the basis of what a guy would pick in his normal run of business.
Oh, and a true test of merit would be to track % and Return on Investment per 100 plays, or 500 plays. Money amounts mean nothing, because what a guy bets per game means nothing and how many plays he makes per day means nothing. His rate of accuracy vs playable lines does. So you would simply compare at certain pick amounts... 100 vs 100, 500 vs 500, whatever... with who cares how quickly either of you reached it.
Because Return on Risk is the only true measure of which guy is beating the lines and who isn't. Whether a guy plays 1 game a week or 10 a day, it doesn't matter. It's how your rate looks when you hit 500 picks, 1000 picks, etc

@JStaley.....meant no disrespect to you. You are legitimately one of the best cappers on here. Who is actually THE BEST, I don't know nor does it really matter...at least not to me. As long as we are making money, we're good IMO.
You guys have different styles and that's totally ok as long as you arrive at the desired result.

You both are pretty damn good, with different variations to your play, who consistently profit from a $$ point of view. There no disrespect in the challenge, and maybe, this challenge will both get you better. Sheesh, I learned alot from both of you in regards to capping games.
Kudos to both of you guys.
