NYC mayor Eric Adams was told to be "A Good Democrat" by the biden administration when he complained about illegal immigrants!

Adams is from Bushwick, 20-year NYPD retired captain.  His street beat time was during the Guiliani days when Times Square was overrun with hookers/pimps/ and drugs.  Watch a movie from the 80s NYC, there are no camera tricks it was a shithole.  I don't know what happened to Adams, maybe the push back with Bloomberg, but he had the Democrat backing.  When he stopped kissing the ring with these nonstop buses of undocumented, he was handcuffed and had no power even as mayor of NYC.  Spoke out and banned to the pit of despair.  He wouldn't be under investigation if he never spoke out and played nice with the real criminals.  

You can't be a great person and a politician in the same life.  To be a politician you have to sell your soul and become the scumbag you never wanted to be.  If you don't, chose the high road and go legit, you'll be run over come next election.  It's actually worse at the local level, no national media spotlight

Trump has been advocating for this for years.  
Of course he is correct. 
There is an older thread on here from years ago where he pointed out that this needed to be done and other places that do it.  People and the media were ridiculing him then also.  
The east coast states actually do a better job than some of the western ones do.
Austria has one of the best and biggest forest management services in the world.  They have long been known for their work in all sectors of forestry.  
Finland is known for managing their forests as well. 
Many other countries do a better job than the USA does.  Even the American Indians knew to do this.  
Fires have devastated some of those countries in years past.  They had to learn what worked.  
A lot can be learned from how others do this.  

Do you believe the climate and general weather are consistent with each others? California is 6 times the area…yet on average Austria get double the rain fall? Trump’s comparison to forested Europe is extremely misleading, as the climate there is in many cases colder and wetter. Austria, for instance, has an alpine climate that bears little resemblance to California’s…….Then again Trump is smarter than all the general’s & doctors why shouldn’t he been so with scientists ! 

Keep in mind California is the 5th largest economy in the world and is totally self sufficient. They can withhold sending tax revenue to Washington until the fires are out and until trump is no longer president. It's one of the few states that doesn't need the rest of the states and it produces 60% of agriculture products and fruit in the United States with double the population of any state. Trump shouldn't threaten California, it could crash the economy by a few simply acts. Now that an idea I wouldn’t mind seeing put in practice by Governor Newscum!

This has little to do with it.  No matter where you are that is prone to fires you have to consider two things:

Reducing risks and hazards.  

When you have wildfires where upwards of 90-95% are caused by humans, these are the things you have to consider fixing.

If you are in a place where the weather or droughts make it more fire-prone -- that is all the more reason to do the things that will reduce those two things.

If you study the history in some of these areas and see what they have done and how it helped -- it will make you have considerable pause as to why California and other areas are not doing these things.

Even though it is not all alpine forests, even those areas can experience droughts and severe fire-prone conditions.  If you live in a smaller area, then it is even more important to do the things you can to prevent the fires, or reduce their effects; just because, by definition, you are closer to them.

So, for sure, in areas of California near the cities this should be done.

Then again Trump is smarter than all the general’s & doctors why shouldn’t he been so with scientists

It is not about being smarter than them.  It is about using common sense and deciding which Generals, doctors and scientists are correct and make the most common sense as well.  You saw this with the Wuhan Flu and the suggested remedies that worked, but the 'doctors' and politicians made nearly illegal.   But now switched over to.  Sure, there was money involved.  But why were folks not having an open ear to the doctors that were advocating for common sense stuff that also medically worked?

So, to say Trump is smarter than the scientist is not correct; he is only saying what the scientists have said and know to be proven to work.  But there are some 'scientists' that are afraid to speak up.

Go ask any decent scientist what the studies show about reducing forest fires and what has been proven to work.

Then ask why it is not being done there in major parts of the USA.

It is almost always 'smarter' to follow the scientists and doctors that are not afraid to say what works, and are not too afraid of being canceled or not given grant money for speaking out.

This only emphasizes why they should be more pro-active about it!  I would reconsider that last part about being 'totally self-sufficient' right about now.

Sure, if you position it like that AND only like that.

However, if you position it like the folks need to take up some sort of preventive measures instead of simply allowing these fires to become worse and worse over time.  Be pro-active is all he is asking.

Same thing in Florida, they have at least upped the hurricane building standards over time.  But the departure of insurance companies in these states is going to be another reason that folks there need to be pro-active and not simply reactive.  

It costs the states and federal government too much money.  In essence, you now have people in other states that do not have these issues subsidizing bad governmental behavior.

As far everyone being accountable for change I agree but make the event a political bargain chip being federal aid for Changes in the states voting laws is bull s—t! That would be like telling NC SC or Fla to change there gun laws for hurricane aid

He was only repeating what other true experts were doing and saying — and worked and they still do.

How would you do it?  Because so far, no simple suggesting has encouraged them to do it?

This sort of thing has been done with other political/social programs — even on the individual level with the welfare stuff — even with Democrats like Clinton.  

Back in 2019 the LA utility set aside $2 million to replace wooden utility poles with steel poles, widen fire lanes and create more access to a fire prone area. 

They were stopped, sued $1.9 million for "bulldozing" an endangered wild shrub that was identified in the area.

After that, who the hell is going to clear even 100ft of brush?? And you wonder why fires get out of hand? 

It is that behavior Trump is refering to when he compares Alpine Forests to California scrub land.

Those plants were federally protected in Cali & I don't know the process to "unprotect" them.

It's malefesance on the part of those involved & incompetentence for not coming to a reasonable solution.

The public got hosed again.

"Those plants" are dependent on wildfires to survive. They grow, germinate seeds and then are fuel for a fire. 

Well, those plants got what they needed.

 From my understanding that was over and done back then, the fines paid and the poles replaced.

And shrubs replanted. They were not only replacing poles they were widening overgrown roads and firelanes. The count was 183 mikkvetch destroyed.

My point is they put a plant that is dependant on wildfires ahead of preventing wildfires. A precedent set that would make future firelane building almost imposible.
