First I’ll give you a little of my background. I’m 40, gambling for 27 years, degenerate in my teens and early 20’s, bookie for a few years, now I don’t get involved much in sports gambling. I was friendly with a guy who was the biggest bookie in the Boston area before he got indicted. He had thousands of customers. I would go to the local bar and let people bet horses for the big horse races each year. You might as well lite your money on fire instead of betting on horse races. I know and handful of bookies and hundreds of gamblers.
Do you know who wins gambling on sports? Nobody.
It’s easier to become a well paid professional athlete than it is to become a professional sports gambler.
If you’re young, and you like to gamble, always be the house. Be the bookie. When you go to party’s on Friday and Saturday nights be the blackjack dealer.
Do you know who wins investing in stocks and real estate? Everyone. Literally every single person.

I don’t need a time machine. I’m 40, good looking, healthy, and made over $20,000,000 this year.
Ive held gambling contests in the penalty box and paid the winners a few hundred. I’ve given away thousands worth of crypto. I have threads telling people to buy real estate in 2012. I have threads trying to explain that a crypto boom was coming.
What do you do? Post shamrocks under people’s gambling picks?

It warms my heart that my truth is unfathomable to you.
I try to help people like yourself all the time but their pea brains just can’t grasp it.
In 2010 I told everyone I know to buy real estate. One of my friends listened and bought a 3 family instead of renting. He has around $500,000 in equity. I have a thread somewhere on this site from 2011.
In early 2020 I told everyone crypto was going to pump. Not a lot of people listened. 2 people in my real life (both plus high six figures) and maybe a few people in my crypto thread here from 2017 with 3,600 posts.
Now let’s get back to the original topic that seems to have hit a nerve with you… Everyone that gambles on sports is a loser.

Would you say the same things if you he had picked 4 of the 5 or 6 underdogs that did win? Of the 4 he tried, only one was never in doubt. One went to OT, one wasn't decided until last 3 minutes or so, another wasn't decided until after midway of the 4th Q.
So, instead of going to that thread and 'making fun' of him losing, you come to this thread and do it. Why not attempt to address what he is talking about in this thread?
It is not so easy then, I guess.
A lot of people gamble on sports and very, very few win consistently. But nearly every 'investor' will 'win' consistently. Try addressing this part of the thread instead of proving his point about the gambling on sports part. Address the psychology of why -- even knowing you are mostly going to lose -- you still bet. Or, why people do not invest consistently for long-term.
Or show your consistent winning bets on here.
This thread could go in several good, productive directions. Instead you chose to take it down this path -- which, was unfortunate.
Now it looks more like jealousy. Wait for a real estate dip or crypto dip and buy you some next time. Or suggest to others what you are investing in.

This guy is 9-7 +$200 and he thinks he’s something
Raiders22 was teaching me how to trade options in the crypto thread during the Covid crash.
It always amazes me where people put the time and attention. Raiders22 has a ton of real knowledge about making real money… he’ll get no attention. Some idiot in the NFL forum will manipulate bets and post a fake record and get tons of attention.
Basically everyone just wants to make money.
One person has real knowledge of how to make real money. And if you listen to him, you’ll make real money as well.
One person has no real knowledge. And if you listen to him you’ll go broke.
The psychology involved is fascinating.

I’ve read a few articles today on the psychology behind sports betting. I think they’re accurate for the most part.
The one thing I can’t understand is why people don’t feed that same beast by investing in stocks or real estate instead of sports gambling? With one you’ll win and with one you’ll lose.
Maybe it’s too slow? Not enough of a high? Ignorance?
