TNF NYJets +1 JAX . Incredible early action on the Jaguars as this opened the Jets -2 and we've crossed the bridge. Realistically it doesn't matter unless you expect this to be a 1 point game in either direction. Both teams cling to playoff hopes with Jax actually in a better position to do so. This game is critical because they can't fall more than 1 game back of Tennessee before the final week showdown with the Titans at home.
Jags are a team which has been an analytical darling all year and they're finally paying dividends. Lawrence is becoming that generational talent and the entire offense is working. Trouble with starting LG Cam Robinson out for the season, but backup Walker Little a 2nd round pick from Stanford more than held his own against Micah Parsons in relief last week. Overall this is a healthy unit that has hit a stride.
The defense hasn't been good since early in the year. Despite 3 1st round draft picks along the defensive line, they haven't been able to really affect a game all year. The linebackers have sucked all year and the secondary is comprised of 2 stars and 2 scrubs which leaves them vulnerable to a vertical passing attack...which the Jets don't have.
The health of Quinn Williams is important. With him the Jets defense is imposing, without him they can be had. Zach Wilson should start again on a short week and should be better but better than what? He still makes easy throws look hard.
This will be Jack's first game in a cold environment all year. That means something. The Jets like Jax are on a short week but they stayed home, Jags have to travel.
All in all this is the pivotal game of the year for Jacksonville. They're riding a wave. The Jets with Wilson and Saleh's incompetence at clock management look fried. The Jags are a train to climb aboard and I would certainly recommend them for a standard unit play.

The cold weather angle for me is not too much of a factor, how does one deal with cold as a player. Well you wear some thermal drawers and you keep moving. jmo

We're supposed to get anywhere from 11 to 24 inches of snow thur/fri in Chicago. Temp -1 on Saturday, strong winds, wind chill in the negative teens. The Bills play the Bears...

The warnings that we're getting about this storm as of now are frightening. They're saying that travel will be impossible, power outages are highly likely etc...
If I were the nfl, they'd be smart to looking into another venue for this game. Lions and Colts facilities would be available on Christmas Eve.

54 degrees is balmy for NY. Neither team has an imposing rushing game. The Jets might be back to using Carter at RB who has been benched twice for Hall and then Knight. Someone has to pass the ball and the Jags do it a hell of a lot better than the Jets.

My oldest son lives in Indy and is planning to go skating at the ribbon path or something in Chicago on Thursday with his Gfriend. Then coming to visit mom and pop on Friday. That weather sounds both beautiful and brutal at the same time. I love falling snow, I just hate the aftermath.

Also, (mini rant coming) why in the fuck are we still playing Thursday night games this late in the season? Absolutely ridiculous to have any game with playoff/division implications on 3 days rest, or any game at all. After 14 weeks of playing there should not be any short week except for Sun-Sat or Mon-Sun. They need to stop Thursdays after Thanksgiving.

Simple logic like Shrimp and Cy have been preaching today.
4-1
