We have become snowflakes

We can't even reschedule the game today now that they know he is going to be ok. We need a week to "pray" for him and his baby mommas. We need to let the teams have time to process what they saw. 

That's crazy. This isn't close to the first time this has happened. I saw Joe Theismanns leg get snapped so bad it still hurts to watch that play. They took him off and kept playing.

Just last year Donald Parham got knocked unconscious in a game. They carted him off, legs twitching, totally unconscious and kept playing.

A couple years ago Giants WR C.J. Board being carted off the field after what appeared to be a scary neck injury. Was down on the turf for several minutes. Didn't see him move. They kept playing.

They need to put their big girl panties on and play tonight. This waiting to play the game is nonsense. He's going to be ok. Players get hurt that's the nature of the game. Maybe the NFL should change to touch football like drew61 plays with his sister's just so no one gets hurt anymore.

Well written and I totally agree with you. Doesn't mean we make light of Hamlin's condition/injury or have no compassion in our hearts for him and his loved ones. Just means that life goes on. The NFL is predicated on violence and whichever team tackles and blocks better usually wins. American football is by its very nature a contact and combative form of athletic expression. 

Men hurting men if you will and we know what we are getting when we tune in...somewhat controlled violence. That is part of its appeal. This need for the team to process what they saw from a fan-base that calls itself the Bills mafia (oh really)? 

A player from a former era once described the NFL as 'the cathartic of American society' and was he wrong? 

Players in former times intentionally tried to harm one another. 

I don't really understand why they postponed this game, either. I don't have any bet on it, and no stock in who wins, but it's an injury. Why does this one warrant stopping the game? Because we are too emotional to play now?  They could take a 15 minute break, let everyone get their head back in the game, and play on.

The NFL and its culture are soft to the core!

Compassion like the bankers and brokers on Wall Street? The NFL is a cold, hard business and any attempt to pervert it, more than it already is, destroys it. Allowing players to make operational decisions is a one way ticket to failure.

The man was lucky it happened during a game and received immediate care if it was some type of defect. If it was just a freak reaction to the hit to the chest or head it is a terrible outcome.  I had a lot riding on this game with the Bengals plus 3 but there is no way those men were going to play nor should they have continued. The coaches it seemed made the decision for The Shield. The show doesn't need to go on, that is just bullshite. This sport is entertainment, that is all. If your friend had a heart attack at your job you wouldn't just wait til he was removed from the office then continue the day. I hope this young man recovers and can enjoy the rest of his life. This does bring in the idea that if a player is knocked unconscious will the game continue? If a play has a serious neck or back injury will the game continue.  I don't know nor do I have the correct answer.  I am old enough to remember when the Jets player was paralyzed during a game and it continued once he was carted off the field.  I do remember the Jets were upset because they knew he couldn't move or feel anything after that tragic event and they did not want to play but were forced to do so. These events are extremely rare and hopefully they continue to be once a decade tragedy or better yet never again.  Would like to see the targeting rule from college be adopted in the NFL to prevent future neck, spine and brain injuries.

if your grandma collapses on thanksgiving day and is no longer breathing and needed CPR and AED to revive her and is rushed to the hospital, do you stay behind and fix a plate of turkey, mash and gravy, and stuffing?

the coaches and players absolutely did not want to play.  they just saw their friend and teammate receive CPR for 10 minutes on the field and had no idea whether he was going to live.  it's called COMPASSION and LOVE.  if you're cold, heartless and emotionless, you probably dont care about such things but most people are not that way.
