(- 105) may not be the norm for halftime wagers but it's certainly very attainable. I wouldn't bet at all if I couldn't get 5 cents on everything. With the exception of exibition bases and props I get the following prices at my book ( through my agent ):
Football - 105 ( sides, totals, 1st half and 2nd half )
Baseball - 108 ( ML and totals and about to get better )
It's funny how 3 years ago I played a 0.20 line in bases ( what an idiot ) . Then 2 years ago I was able to negotiate 0.10. Before last season, I was able to get 0.08 ( thanks to Pinny ). And now thanks to places like Matchbook, I will more than likely be getting 0.05 or less this baseball season. Bottomline, test your man out!! Whether he be a local or an agent, they are all familiar with what the market offers ( don't let them fool you ). The worst they can say is "no" and then you say you're going elsewhere. It took about 2 weeks after saying adios to the man, and he was calling me to renegotiate. Finally, we settled on my terms.
I like to tell myself that I got what I wanted b/c of my superior negotiating skills, but in retrospect I've come to realize that he simply couldn't afford to lose my business ( this doesn't say much for me as a gambler ......)

Pinnacle.. that's exactly how I got the 5% juice with my local. I flat out told him I have an on-line book which is more convenient and easy to play with and what is my incentive to play with him?

Exactly.....You hear so many people bitching and moaning about this, yet they do nothing about it. I'm surprised at the number of gamblers that simply "settle". Hold the man over the barrel for cryin' out loud!!!
