wellllwellllwellll my prediction for Blake is going good 8th in chips before tonites field, i did not see a bigger one than the 235 k he has tonite, 210 and 200k i saw... he can do this. very good play in this tourny...the weak or i say usually good players become sub par, and the very good are all on the same floor so to speak...

Wow, some dumb people on here saying poker is 80% luck,lmao. Try about 30%. Cash vs tourney way different strategy and hand requirements. There's luck in all forms of gambling, some more than others.

20% SKILL is a huge HUGE number, but some dumb people fail to recognize this.

I've read every word in this thread - and others....
And still maintain that poker is a "threshold" skill, and that the vig eventually chews everyone up unless there are enough "guppies" in the water.
2000-2006 = tons of guppies 2006-2013 = not enough guppies

Consider a $100NL game that drops about $5 for every deal. That's about $100 an hour which means a player's buyin is lost every hour. Also add at least $1 tip for the dealer.

Good discussion .I think Uncle Arthur saying that poker is 80%luck and 20% skill is not accurate Usually I hear that from the ones who have lost at the game a lot, who have taken some bad beats along the way .Not realizing the way they played the hand or the fact that they did call a raise with KJ for ex. is why they lost a big amount .You will hear these unlucky bad beat stories ,but when you breakdown the whole hand you see its skill or lack of that made you play the hand to start ,or call a raise you shouldn't of ,.Of course luck is involved and maybe more in short term ,.but I feel Skill has a lot more to do with it .In Tornys I feel skill is what gets you through to the final table ,,its luck that gets you to cash. When I play a Tornys I know I can play my best poker but still have to get lucky on 2 or 3 hands for me to win .but to say its 80% luck ? then why would you put your hard earned money down .You would probably do better at the slots with that theory. The more skilled player will win 7out of 10 games everytime .That's why the same guys are on TV the same guys are the top earners ,The same guys are at the poker tables ./They pray for the fish that thinks its all about luck there skill will let them observe that and know how to capitalize on it
Would you say running bad for a few months or year and every time you have Aces or strong pairs you get cracked (when it's played 100% correctly) and every time you go all in with the best hand on the flop and the other guy catches his draw, would you call that luck or skill? How do you explain that.
Players are known to run bad regardless of skill level.
