I was playing 2-4 limit Hold 'Em up at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota.

I was right after the big blind, and dealt AsAd.  I raised it up to $4.  The 4th position folds, 5th folds, 6th folds.  7th position, dealt KhKc, raises to $6.  8th position calls the $6, and 9th, small blind and big blind all fold.

The action is back to me, and I raise it to $8.  7th position (KK) caps it at $10, 8th position calls, I call.  Going to the flop, we've got a $33 pot ($30 + the blinds).

The flop comes: Qh, 3d, Qs.  Rainbow.  Obviously, I'm scared of the trip queens.  I check.  7th position (KK) bets $2.  8th position calls.  I call.  $39 pot.

Turn: 6d.  Nothing.  Check, check, check.

River: 4c.  Nothing.  Check, check, bet $4.  Call, call.  $51 pot.

I've got two pair, aces and queens.  7th position has two pair, kings and queens.  The idiot in 8th position flips over Qc3s.  Full house, queens full of threes and takes the pot.

Why the fuck was this guy in this hand?

It's probably just because I was playing at such a low limit, but god that hand pissed me off.

This guy played a hand similar to this later in the day (a hand I wans't in), with Kc4s, calling an $8 bet pre-flop.

He eventually won the hand with two pair, kings and fours, but someone criticized him as to why he was in the hand to begin with.

His response was "I had a face card."

    donkeys

youre right troe, some idiots just can let go of any face card, ESPECIALLY IN LIMIT

the geniuses invest like $2 in the pot.....it gets popped up 3 or 4 times to $8-$10.... but they think to themselves "how can i fold, i mean shit, i arleady have this $2 in the pot"

donkeys that put money in the pot preflop in early position generally call any preflop  re raises just because they feel like they cannot fold.....well for limit at least. hell and sometimes NL too.

You guys can't be fuckin serious right?

These "retards" are exactly how you make you money. Over the long run, these "retards" lose money to the sharks. I can't understand why anyone would complain about this. Sure you get a couple of bad beats, but in the long run, it should be all $$$$$$$$$$$$$

    thread should say

"Why Are LOW Limit Players Retarded?"

and anyway you cant beat the rake in a $2 - $4 Limit game anyway so it's all just a waste of time playing at that level unless it's for pure fun and not for profit but i cant see the joy in having 80 year old ladies suck out on you all night (please no sick jokes, thank you lol)

....basically move up to at least $5 - $10 limit and the game becomes very interesting...

These "retards" that run us down occasionally are the exact reason why we are in action and why poker is still alive. Play solid poker and the chips will end up in front of you over time. Would you rather sit down with 9 wizards and chop blinds all day???

First of all, 2/4 limit is not poker.  It's fucking bingo.

Most pros play high limit games.  Move up to 6/12 or 8/16 and you'll see a big difference.

I play at the very minimum 4/8, and that's only if I'm extremely bored and it's the only table available.  There is money to be made from such idiots as you describe on the 1/2 NL tables, fyi.

There are idiots at all levels and this is where the profit comes from in poker.  The limits dont matter.  Limit is limit.  If I didnt have ppl calling 3 bets cold with Jack 4 offsuit or calling down with bottom pair, poker wouldnt be worth playing.  There will be occasional suckouts but this is what keeps them coming back for more.  When they beat you, tell them "nice hand".  To berate them may make them want to play better.  It might make them toss bottom pair then next time you flop top pair.  That wouldnt be good.

Troe- Let me tell you where you went wrong with your hand you checked after the flop you should have raised that retard and  who bet on the river? Whenever somebody calls after the flop and turn and then bets on the river usually more times than not he is trying to bluff people out. That retard would have folded if you would have bet into him big.

I had AA a few weeks back, capped pot before the flop with 6 callers, pot is raised all the way to the river, board reads T T X J J in that order, I win the pot and I'm like holy shit what are these people calling with? thought for sure someone would have had a T or J but WTF I'll take it.

Yeah, you have to watch out for maniacs.  But, I'll assume this was low limit hold'em, such as 2/4 or 4/8.

I'm telling you guys, step up to a higher limit game and things change a bit.  There are still bad players and once and a while you get somebody with a lot of cash that doesn't mind losing it, and will call or raise all the way to the river everytime.  But, if you play correctly, odds are in your favor and you'll be cashing in on that dude eventually.

But, then you get guys that think they know everything.  I knocked a guy out the other day, and was basically called an asshole for being in the hand.  I'm no pro, and I don't have that much live experience under my belt, but I can and do know how to play.

I got dealt suited one gap connectors on the button, 6-8, I think.  The key here is I'm on the button with everyone limping around.  What the fuck else am I going to do, fold?!  I don't think so.  Unless some goes 3 or 4x big blind or re-raises to take down the small pot, I'm still in.  Flop came and I'm on a flush draw.  Little to no action on the turn, and I'm nail the flush on the river.  Villian goes all in with a set, I insta call.

On his way out, I kind of heard something and seen something over the my left shoulder, and the other players said he leaned over my shoulder and called me an asshole.  WTF ever.....  Look, if can't figure out there's a flush draw on the board with three card of the same fucking suit and decide to go all in with a set on the river with that shit out there, then it's you're own fucking fault, sorry.

I paid off my car and two credit cards playing 3-6.  People call down with bottom pair or call three bets cold with jack six offsuit.  Yes they will get lucky sometimes.  Just like people get lucky playing roulette sometimes.  But in the long run, the house gets all the money in roulette and the best player gets all the money in poker.  I hear people say they hate limit because nobody folds.  If they have bottom pair, why would you want them to fold?  Its just baffling.
