yeah i call cuz i am a favorite. i mean, i dont call cuz i'm a broke ass, but if i had say 100k and he wanted to play that game all day for 1k each time, i'd do it, cuz statistically i would win out a larger % of the time.

If we both have a ton of money, probably, honestly I've never folded em to some chump but absolute guys I know are locksmiths and once to scott fishman when I did exactly that: made it 300 and he's on the button and make it 3300.  I know the bet after the flop gonna be 5000 which is what I  would of had left.  Sometimes a guy makes a good bet and you give it up to him.  

As for that I call i'm a statistical favorite  I win in the longrun to me thats all bullshit, there is no longrun, 99% of poker players play above their bankroll myself included.  If you call every time you're a 2% advantage and run bad for 2 months you go broke.  And it really is amazing how bad you can run in poker. And I'm sure the whole world will disagree with me on that and I dont give a fuck.  I know so many people who went broke and I'm still here, still in action.

well.. not quite 10k pots, but got a guy to fold his kk by going all in during tonights local 10$ buyin tourny at the pub.
 
i had q9, he had 3 times my stack..  i ended up winning the tourny.  not a great achievement considering the opposition, but funny to push someone off that hand..

so say you have 5k in front of you. you have pocket kings. guy you've been playing against is a mediocre player, nothing special, nothing terrible. Has raised, called, and showed hands pretty normally. You have pocket kings. he makes it 300 to go. do you raise, call, or fold?

create a better scenario that would require you either push your stack in or muck and put him on aces

i dont care if its the biggest pro you can name... or the hardest rock out there, if im playing a cash table within my bankroll i would never fold kk to a big raise.
if you see $1000 on the street you aint gonna walk by it... gonna all in re-raise 90% of the time.

90%?  I'd say probably higher.  But you're not a good player if you just play your hand and not the man.  And there are some guys here who would NEVER raise all in pre flop with QQ and it's fairly obvious they have AA.    And why wouldn't you want to see a flop, if it comes AJQ you can throw KK in the garbage.  If it comes low and KK was ahead you're still going to make money. If you go all in a good player will get away from QQ or JJ.

vegasmaxx, you keep going back to your "i knwo them they are rocks" thing... I get that... what i'm asking is if you are playing somone you have no history with... and you know KK will get your chips iun the pot and hes betting "like" he has a strong hand, maybe aces, maybe not
 
ok say he makes it 300, you make it 900 or 1200 or something, he calls

he goes all in.... call or fold with KK for your 4k stack?

easy call, once I put my 1200  if he doesn't reraise I'm going all the way.   

The hand that comes to my mind is sammy farha putting 200,000 in with kk  Do you really think barry fucking greenstein is putting it all in with queens.  worst call/raise ever even though he sucked out.

this question just always perplexes me when anyone is willing to laydown kk to an unknown player..... cuz you could techincally get anyone off anything worse than aces if it was a standard move to fold to an all in preflop (in large stack no limit)

no i'm not out, if I've never played with him before I will probly end up going all in with him.  I told you before the guys i've folded kk to i've played with enough to know where they are at.

no disrespect at all,, good if you make the right fold. but if you know them well, there is a good chance they know you too. so i wouldnt make a rule as to who you play certain hands against.

so today i learned that i shouldnt represent aces with 2-7 offsuit and expect someone like vegasmaxx to fold kings

I dont think you get it man.  There are guys out here who don't make moves, dont bluff,  they just play their own two cards and when they go all in it is the absolute nuts.

I was watching a WSOP even and Hellmuth and some guys wife each had AA and another guy had KK, that was the only time it was obvious someone had AA.  The guy still called and was knocked out.

Ha. Was just going to mention that same exact situation. I have never folded KK preflop, though I have folded QQ and JJ. (Sad thing is that I hit a set in most of those rare cases even though my read was good!)

But yes, if ever there was a situation where it was obvious kings were beat this was it... the woman seemed drunk or mentally deficient and Hellmuth's instacall should have been another tipoff, as well as the insanely dumb premature celebration between the two. This guy deserved to lose his money:

I find it almost impossible to fold KK preflop but I am very confident that were I in this same situation... this would be the one exception. You guys all have to watch this!

I will probably get ripped to shreds for this but I might fold AA preflop in this scenario.   I'm the shortstack in a tournament and two bigger stacks are all in in front of me and the difference in money is fairly signifigant.   Put yourself in that scenario and say the difference is $20,000  in payout if one more person goes out, do you call knowing one of them is gonna bust out.   If your a rich pro being sponsored hell no but what you're just trying to make a living and pay your house off. ???????

say the board is 10qK.... 10 and q are spades, lets say. someone has AJ, neither spades. Are your rock players willing to go all in on the turn if need be ? Or will they fold the nutstraight if they cant see teh river for cheaper? Will tehy have to see no spade rag on the river and the board not paired before they call/push for all their chips?
 
I don't play no limit so I'm interested in how "rocks" play... cuz so many times in tourneys i flop or turn best hand and get counterfeited on the river. wondering how tight players don't help getting all their chips in when they can with the best hand... theres always someone on a draw or set waiting for the baord to pair.

or is it a general rule of thumb that if you have the nuts on the flop or river, you committ your chips if you are over 65% to win ... cuz on a board of 10qk, someone might ahve a set and be willing to get it all in, you have aj, what the fuck do you do, fold? say you got 5k in front of you.... this is why i  dont play no limit, some really hairy shit can go down

They will get in anywhere but when they do it's the lock.   In the bigger limit games they will often ask to "run it twice" for some insurance on taking a beat.  They dont let em run it twice in smaller limits.

You can't fold kk preflop in a tournament period.  Maybe you could fold kk preflop in a high stakes cash game, but those are under very rare circumstances.

im the opposite, i would never fold kk in cash game preflop, but maybe in a tournament, especially if you get stacked off by more than 2 or 3 players that are also going all in.
all depends on the read. the hellmuth situation is a good example.. everyone knew what was going on.
