The US economy remained shockingly robust in the fourth quarter to close out a remarkably strong 2023 as consumers and businesses continued to spend, crushing expectations of a recession! 
The fourth quarter’s 2.8% rate blew away the conservative 1.5% that economists were expecting, according to FactSet estimates!

Why was 2023 such a boom year for the US economy?
1) Americans kept spending.
2) Gov't spending picked up (esp. state and local)
3) A boom in "structure" building (e.g. factories)
#1 was driven by strong job growth & wealth growth #2 and #3 were Biden policy driven

Consumer spending slowed down, but government driven programs & a record non recessionary deficit made up the rest.
Fun fact....Military contractor spending, cough cough, UKRAINE..... is counted as "revenue".
The economy wasn't good. Our debt grew by $2.581 trillion last year. This means that every $1.00 in GDP growth cost $1.69 in new debt. It also means that every new job cost $957,100.48 Governments have done this probably 100s of thousands of times to paper over bad economies.

Correlate that for us instead of take two concepts and hook them together. Did you see the stuff just today regarding the UN and Israel? The UN said that Israel needs to go about things in a certain way with regards to how they treat Gaza citizens and what does Ben do? Comes out and states the same pro-aggression response that Israel needs to protect themselves and takes no responsibility for what they are doing. I also read on how there are videos of Gaza citizens waving white flags and the Israeli soldiers are still just shooting them dead, they have no respect or regard for anyone...not the US not the UN not the innocent lives of thousands of people they are killing, the destruction to that area which will probably never be rebuilt. And you think that Trump would have stopped this? He has no history of stopping anything, he has no control over anything. Just because you run your mouth (Trump) does not make it so. Trump loves to take shots from the comfy seat outside of the battle and will attack every single aspect of what is happening and yet I did not see any evidence that he would be able to do things differently. He handled Covid very poorly, he was passive and stayed back not taking charge and pulling his droning condescending attacks, but you can be 100% sure he would have social media to death any politician who was in his spot making the tough choices.
We cannot expect a blue or red to control the world, Trump or Biden it does not matter we have no say about how another country acts or reacts and no level of social media yammering will change that or make it better. Putin does not regard Trump at all, if he can use a US leader he will but outside of that our tariffs or threats are laughable and have no impact on Russia. The price of European Brent crude oil has more impact on Russia than Trump or Biden does.

Data don't lie. Biden's economic record is better than Trump's according to Washington monthly magazine. This includes economic growth, investment, spending, exports and employment. Far from mismanaging inflation, Biden tamed it. Superior record still holds up even if pandemic impact is set aside for both Trump and Biden. Of course, Trump lies about the economy because he needs to sell pessimism to voters.
Wall, you and others here consistently miss the point on how U.S. Presidents ""greatly influence "" the actions taken by our adversaries. Did I say ""control "".... no. Never have. You have seen me post repeatedly that Weakness Breeds Agression. So, the simple "" correlation "" is that weak Joe has presided over 2 wars since his inauguration barely a years ago. Regarding Israel, they need to be given free reign to annihilate Hamas to oblivion. The obvious parallel to me is there were no "handcuffs" placed on the U.S. when we responded to 9.11. Can you imagine if some country told us to cease fire, or demand humanitarian aid that interrupted the immediate task at hand to annihilate the enemy. Imagine for a moment if General Patton would've put up w this.. A big problem w the Palestinians is that a large number of them support Hamas, and were cheering when the cockroaches rode their motorcycles through Gaza after the Oct. 7 attack on Israel. These people are pure evil that have no interest/intention of a 2 state solution.
Last point. You mention Trump wouldn't have been to ""stop"" this war... i think you are correct on this. Because it is highly likely the events of Oct. 7th never would have "" begun "" .

I disagree with the reason why the Israel attack started, you can say it was due to the event at that the fair or that it was something that happened a year ago, five years ago whatever because both sides have valid and specific instances of where the other abused them...BOTH sides, not just our allies but all parties involved. To me the match was lit when Benny got back in the saddle, his offensive aggressive leadership approach is well known and has a long duration. Notice when he was out things seemed more stable than when he was in and now that he is back in things will not slow down and his history validates that HE is the reason for events spiraling out of control because that is what he wants to happen.
So until you have leadership on the Israel side that is not strongly motivated to start war, wars will continue to occur when the opportunity presents itself. I see nothing to make me believe differently from him and it causes great regional risk and thousands of lives will be lost because to him the only conclusion is to destroy the enemy and that will not end well for Israel, the region, our allies and the US.
So unless Trump is Benny, the reality is the road would always go this direction and we can expect more of this approach and there is not much the US can do about it.

The economy’s strength in the final months of 2023 was broad based, driven by consumer spending, business investment, government outlays, exports and improvements in housing conditions.
Consumer spending, which accounts for about two-thirds of the US economy, grew at a healthy 2.8% rate in the fourth quarter!
Meanwhile, business spending accelerated to a 1.9% rate, up from 1.4%.

AKA The economy is being propped up on debts. Cheering the US economy growing (based on mostly debts) is so misguided. Do you not realize that the "growing" economy is actually growing debts?? If people having to only buy necessities, and debts are growing, do you honestly think this is good for the economy?
