Our process is broken. We should be attracting the best and we rarely (if ever) do. I have no observation of the solution, only a very obvious suggestion that what we have does not put our best people in office.

Term limits. Doing away with a two party system. All of these are answers but I guess what i'm getting at is that we already have an answer. A vote. The electorate does not have to vote for these people. Why does it? Why do people, on both sides, vote against their interest? Why do we vote against the greater good of the society? Part of it is that we are collectively stupid. Uninformed. Misinformed, what have you, but to look at the case of Pelosi, there was literally another democratic candidate.

You gotta do away with all the money from corporations and lobbyist,its just buying the way these politicians are going to vote.The politicians are always gonna vote the way the people that are paying them,want them to vote no matter if it's good for the country or not.These lobbyist basically own the politician at that point.A corporation is only going to care about itself and the stockholders,not really whats best for the whole country and it's citizens.

I was just having a conversation with my 14 year old son today about how worthless both US and Canada political systems are. Some many people vote against other party as opposed to voting for a candidate they think will bring change. The fact that Trump, Clinton and Biden were choices in last two elections is so facked up.

Term limits would be a good start and like was mention our leaders are bought and paid for,term limits over time could deal with some of that but also they need to change a few rules,one being that law makers are immune from the laws they make and they should not be getting medical and pension just because they won a term.All an elected leader in the House does from day one of winning starts doing their campaign plans and working on donations for the next time they have to run,only time they go to the places that elected them are for fund raiser so when do they work for the people that voted for them.
McConnell from Kentucky since 1985,this guy has done nothing for those people and he has not even tried to raise the minimum wage as it is still the same as the federal,7.25 an hour,and he was the one saying that nobody needed a second stimulus from Govt.,I would have to think that to me that shows exactly who he is helping,not the voters but the people that hire those workers,but they keep voting him in,I can not even make up a reason why.The money people own him IMO.
Get rid of the law that lets lobbyist give them any amount of money from a company without having to say who it is and put limits on amount anyone or Company can donate,10 grand would be a good limit once a year only,we need a political revolution in this Country and some of this stuff could at least be a change,but I am to old to know the answers to how to do this.

East,no I hate Trump because his tax break for the rich killed middle class homeowners,I paid more income tax under Trump then I have in 20 years,you need more info,and the Real Rich got 434 billion in tax breaks.There was so much more Trump and McConnell in 4 more years could have done to hurt workers to me Biden is worth a look, and I guess you agree that the way he is acting while losing is awesome to huh.

High st, east oakland. I also lived for a while on 8th ave-east 20th. Fairfax and foothill. I just moved because crime was too much. Had way too many shootings in front of my house. And the police would only show up for a shooting nothjng else. Why do u think that is? They been defunding the police for years in oakland and they need triple the funding in that trash can. Ppl playing loud music constantly and no respect for others. Just a complete clown show of a city. Hopefully i can move out of California, but it isnt easy. It's my hometown. I'd probably never live there again but for different reason. Not so much because of crime. Or for politics. Mainly because if transplants. The homeless issue as well but that came with the transplants. Wasn't like that when I was growing up. As far as OPD, they get money hand over fist. I know cops who rake it in. They just suck at their jobs, collectively. Low solve rate, high misconduct rate. They have sucked for years.
